DC250 My Army Is Bigger!! - Fall 1907 - GERMAN SOL... - former.trout   (Aug 27, 2009, 12:29 am)
Heya folks,

The Kaiser proves that his army truly is bigger, as he cruises to a 20 center victory in Fall 1907.  A hearty congratulations to John for powering to the solo win, and a big pat on the back to Shawn, Thor, Manolis and Christian for managing to eke out survivals.  Thank you to all of you players for participating in such a succesful game.  =)

There was one retreat from France as a result of the Fall turn, but with Germany having won the game I simply moved it to the West Med.  Also - I bent the house rules a little and ran with an NMR from Thor in this last round.  The Turkish moves would have had no impact on the outcome in France, and with my having given two deadline reminders I wasn't going to delay the game end past tonight.  (Thor, if you're upset about this then please just let me know and we'll hash it out...)

Above all, I greatly enjoyed running this game for you guys.  I greatly encourage all of you to write and send out end-of game (EOG) statements so that people have an idea of your view of how things went.  Hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Once again, congratulations to John for his excellent solo effort.  See you all in the next game!

Cheers!

DC250 My Army Is Bigger - Spring 1907 - Tales Of T... - former.trout   (Aug 21, 2009, 9:24 am)
Heya folks,

Been quite a tumultous summer for me connection-wise, for which I am eternally grateful for your forebearance.  The latest twitch happened last Monday when the dial-up provider cut our service four days early...  Then to top it all off, a tornado hits Toronto as I fly out of there last night.  Yikes.

In any case, I'm happily back home and soaking up all the high-speed glory that I can.  Thanks for hanging in there the last several weeks.  =)

But enough talking about me...  Honestly.  Game-wise, there is more movement from Germany in the west, though the black forces engage in supporting actions in the east.  And a slight miscue from Turkey results in Austria gaining some Albanian breathing room.  (Sorry Thor, I only adjudicate the orders as they are received - and of course had no chance to ask for clarification this week...)

No retreats result from the turn, and we stumble into Fall 1907.  I'll set a firm deadline for Wednesday, August 26th (11:59 PM GMT).  Though I'll try to get several reminders out this week before the turn.

Cheers everyone!

Oh.... Crash and burn... Ouch.

We're two wings short of a plane here for the Spring 07 flight. I've
notified the players in question and hopefully they will get back to
me shortly. However, due to the summer weekend net access draught,
we'll provide a little more time for the turn and extend until Monday,
August 17th (11:59 PM GMT).

Sorry about the delay folks. Cheers,

Heya folks,

Thanks to all of you for putting up with my fishing shack issues last
week. Its amazing how travelling deep into the woods of central
Ontario in order to get out of touch means that you actually get out
of touch... =)

We'll move the game along, with my most sincere apologies for the
delay. Austria builds an army in Vienna, Germany builds two more
armies for their legions and Turkey disbands in Armenia.

That settles 1906... Deadline for Spring 1907 orders will be set for
Saturday, August 15th (11:59 PM GMT). I'll do my best to get a
deadline reminder out on Friday.

Cheers!

DC250 My Army Is Bigger - Fall 1906 - It's A Funny... - former.trout   (Aug 01, 2009, 5:30 am)
Heya guys,

There's some interesting moves in the east this game-turn as Germany walks into Sevastopol unopposed and a log-jam occurs in Rumania.  Meanwhile the other side of the board saw a slight miscue from the French which resulted in a mis-order.  I apologize for being a mean wanker, folks, but after six game years I have to start assuming that you are all familiar with the board by now...

But no worries - even the most experienced of us mess these things up from time to time.  I could tell you some stories, but we'd be here all day.  =)

In any case, there was a single retreat owed from France in Marseilles.  However, since the fleet had only the Gulf of Lyons to fall back to I took the liberty and auto-retreated it there.  (Manolis, please let me know if you'd prefer the fleet to be retreated OTB and I will correct.)

Which brings around the Winter 06 turn.  Germany gains two, Austria gains one and Turkey needs to say goodbye to some of their forces.  Deadline for the Winter 06 adjustments will be set for Tuesday, August 4th (11:59 PM GMT).

As always, please let me know if you spot any errors.  Cheers folks!

Heya folks,

Slight delay this week as one of the retreats was slightly misordered.  I gave a little bit of extra time, but no correction was forthcoming.  As such, the French fleet retreating from the English Channel is disbanded.  (It was originally ordered to the Mid Atlantic, but cannot move there since there was a bounce in that space in Spring.)

In other news, the Italian army in Piedmont gives up the ghost and disbands.  With Summer resolved, we now move into Fall 1906 - deadline will be set for Thursday, July 30th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers all!

The Germans storm through the West, loom in the East, but eddy around the Austrian rock in the center.  Meanwhile France puts up a good fight, Italy bides their time and Turkey stays very much in the thrust of things.

Lots of action to go around.  However, at present I'll need two retreats - one from the French in the English Channel, and the other from Italy in Piedmont.  Deadline for Summer 06 retreats will be set for Friday, July 24th (11:59 PM GMT).

Heya folks,

Regret to say this, but we had a player out doing a walkabout last week.  Deadline for Spring 06 has come and gone, and I find myself missing that players orders.  I've notified the player in question in a seperate email, and hopefully orders will be coming right in.

We'll extend 24 hours in hopes of grabbing these orders.  The player notified me of the vacation, so I will not assign an NMR.  The fault may lie with me in scheduling the deadline too close to when their vacation dates ended.

Cheers all!

DC250 My Army Is Bigger - Early Winter 1905 - Unde... - former.trout   (Jul 12, 2009, 1:03 pm)
Heya folks,

Our little delay was due to my waiting in hope for an Italian retreat from Venice.  Unfortunately, one never came and the unit was removed OTB.  As is Russia's unit in Moscow, but that unfortunately was a given.  I'd like to send a shout-out to Joe for stepping into the Russian role so ably, and for playing the hand out right out to the river.  See you in the next one, Joe.

So we have two builds due from Germany and that does us for Winter 1905.  Deadline for those Winter adjustments will be set for Monday, July 13th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone!  Hope you're enjoying a fine sunny July.  =)

DC250 My Army Is Bigger - Fall 1905 At Last - Pape... - former.trout   (Jul 09, 2009, 12:58 am)
Heya folks,

Delay was totally my fault this turn, and I sincerely apologize.  I blame my neighbour, who didn't stake out the utilities before digging in his new fence and ended up severing a couple major underground lines...  In the process knocking out power and gas for the whole neighbourhood.

No internet and no hot showers for three days.  Colour me unhappy.

Anyways, on with the show.  Germany continues the march to the Urals - displacing the final Russian unit and snapping up Yorkshire.  Meanwhile, Venice falls to the Austrians who due to space limitations, fail to profit from it.

Two retreats needed, both mentioned above.  The Russian retreat is relatively moot as the army will have to disband with the Winter - but the Italian in Venice can fall back to Apulia or Tuscany.  Deadline for retreats will be set for Friday, July 10th (11:59 PM GMT).

Once again, apologies for the delay everyone.  Cheers,

Really Stinky Trout

Heya folks,

Happy Canada Day, eh!  Figured I'd get this out before I got all too slobberingly blitzed.

Speaking of Blitzes - the German solo proposal meets with disapproval from one or more of you - but that doesn't stop the Kaiser from doing his best to paint it all black.  Mick Jagger would be proud.  But, there's a draw-back to everything and in this case its the French rising up and taking back the streets of Paris.

There was just the single retreat, as I mentioned, from Germany in Paris.  However - with only the wine tours in Burgundy selling tickets these days, that's where I auto-retreated the Men in Black.  (John, please just let me know if OTB is preferred.)

Barring any errors you all spot in my usually impeccable adjudication, we'll set the deadline for Fall 1905 orders for Monday, July 6th (11:59 PM GMT).  Now where'd I put that brewskie?

Several players have asked me about it, and yes I can confirm that a German solo proposal has been placed on the table for everyones consideration.  Here is how the voting and possible results will work:

Along with your Spring orders, you will send me a yes or no vote on whether you agree with the German solo proposal.  If someone fails to vote, that counts as a 'no' as per my house rules.  I will not announce any information about the vote other than whether it succeeds or not - to succeed, all surviving players must vote yes.  It must be unanimous.

If the vote fails, we play on.  If the vote succeeds, then it means that Germany wins the game with a solo.  All surviving players are accorded a 'survival' for stats purposes.  You all get credit for the game, but the soloist is the only winner.

Draws among multiple players can be proposed and voted for as well.  There is debate in the diplomacy community over whether winning in a draw is actually winning, or whether a solo is the only true way to win.  It is your call for which side of that fence you wish to sit on.

But thats enough yammering from me.  Please let me know if there are further questions that I did not answer.  Deadline for Spring 1905 and your yay or nay vote for the German solo proposal will be set for Sunday, June 28th (11:59 PM GMT).  This is a weekend deadline, so if anyone has weekend access issues please send in orders early.  =)

Heya folks,

The missing orders come in, and while we include them in the adjudication we'll unfortunately task our Italian friend with an NMR. Meanwhile on the board - Russia relocates back to the bomb-shelters of Moscow, Turkey slides up the coast to Albania and Germany rolls out the Blitzkrieg and Blitzes!

Sadly, we say farewell to our intrepid Englishman this turn as well, as the last two blue centers were gobbled up.  Thanks for fighting it out to the end, Dan - and we'll see you in the next one!

Two retreats, but both were English.  I took the liberty of bouncing them in the English Channel and disbanding them - which means we move directly on into the Winter of 1904.  Germany builds 3, Turkey 1 and Italy and Russia must put down one of their units.

Deadline for Winter 04 will be set for Thursday, June 18th (11:59 PM GMT).  Just let me know if you spot an error.

Cheers!

Subject: DC-250 - Late Order Delay

Heya folks,

I'm sorry but we have one set of late orders for the Fall 04 turn. The player in question has been notified and I will hold things until tomorrow in hopes of gathering the late moves.

Please note that while I am including the orders in the adjudication, the player will be assigned an NMR for stats purposes. This is to fit with recent site policy change - and makes sense seeing as how the orders are, actually, not received at deadline time.

Thanks for your patience all. Cheers!

Trout
