DC269 - Autumn 1908 - Viper   (Feb 01, 2010, 11:34 pm)
Unfortunately, it has become clear that England has fallen prey to the email monster. This monster lurks in cyber-space and mysteriously eats up random emails. The really unfortunate thing is that in the fall I never received any orders from England and that results in his elimination. By the ethic of online Diplomacy, there is little I can do. Once the adjudication is posted I can't accept any orders whether they had been submitted earlier or not (if it had just been a case of me not noticing the orders, that's completely different). The main thing out of this whole ordeal is for you, as the players, to make sure you get a "received" notice from me. It'll usually come within 24 hours and if it doesn't, you have good reason to get suspicious of the email monster.

I'm sorry it ended up going down this way, but there's nothing I can do.

Italy:
Retreat F Ionian Sea - Naples

The Stats:
England: 0 sc's - 1 unit = remove 1
France: 12 sc's - 11 units = build 1
Italy: 5 sc's - 5 units = no adjustment
Russia: 13 sc's - 12 units = build 1
Turkey: 4 sc's - 4 units = no adjustment

Next Deadline: Winter 1908 adjustments are due Wednesday, Feb 3, noon CST.

I don't know how a game that's in 07 could have gone on for way too long already, but the outcome doesn't look so obvious to me. France could pick up three quick centers and be on the way to a solo with a little effort.

Alright then. Now that I'm back from St. Louis and my computer is running well again AND all the orders are in, we're finally ready for the winter adjustments to get out. So, here goes with the orders:

England:
Disband F North Sea
Disband F Helgoland Bight

France:
Build F Brest
Build F Marseilles

Italy:
Disband A Holland

Russia:
Build F Sevastopol

Turkey:
Build A Smyrna

Along with the orders we have a number of EOG proposals:

1) Russia/France draw
2) England/France/Italy/Russia/Turkey draw
3) France/Russia/Turkey draw

If I missed any EOG proposals, please let me know. Please vote on these with your orders.

Hey there guys... I have some good news, bad news and then more good news.  So here we go.

First, my computer is finally back online.  I have access to all my maps and everything is good to go from my end.  Thank-you for your patience and I'm sorry I haven't been more communicative in the meantime.

Second, I take off for a conference on Saturday and anticipate being back on the first of January, so we may get your builds in before I go (or maybe not... depending on whether or not everyone gets them in) but the Spring will be a while in coming.

Third, for those who thought this game's pace was too slow even before my computer took off, the Winter Blitz Tournament will be starting up soon.  Go to the diplomaticcorp website and look to the top.  There will be a graphic advertising the Blitz.  One year in each of those games takes only a week and there are no delays allowed.  I've played in it the last couple of years and have enjoyed my time there.

So, then, without further ado, let's move on to the Winter adjustments.

Austria: 1 sc - 1 unit = even
England: 2 sc's - 4 units = 2 disbands
France: 10 sc's - 8 units = 2 builds
Italy: 4 sc's - 5 units = 1 disband
Russia: 11 sc's - 10 units = 1 build
Turkey: 6 sc's - 5 units = 1 build

Next deadline: I will set this, as strange as it sounds, for Friday (Christmas Day) 8pm CST, in the hopes that you might be able to get it in before then.  I realize this might be a lot to ask, so I won't adjudicate unless I've got all orders in.  If we can't get it by then, I'll adjudicate when I get back in January (the 1st).

Hey there guys... I have some good news, bad news and then more good news.  So here we go.

First, my computer is finally back online.  I have access to all my maps and everything is good to go from my end.  Thank-you for your patience and I'm sorry I haven't been more communicative in the meantime.

I fully understand the frustration. Unfortunately, my computer has not been up and running for a while now and all the communication I've been able to do is from a different computer. To tell the truth, I've been disappointed in how this game has gone as well, but it is what it is. There's no willingness on my part to throw in the towel. That wouldn't do the game justice. I'm committed to finishing the game, it just a matter of getting access to my computer so I can make the maps. I'll try to give more frequent updates from here on in.

I am becoming very disappointed in this game. I know life happens, but life is also happenING NOW! Is there anyway to get this game moving again? Or should we all just pack it in?

Anthony.

Hey there everyone.  We now have all empty spots filled and the game is ready to start up again.  First things first... I have the retreat from our new Italy.

Hey guys... just thought I'd let you know that my computer is being used in a place where it cannot be connected to the internet. Thus, I am unable to put maps together. I will put together the stats for adjustments this weekend, but won't be able to get a map out until next week. I promise, we'll get this game going once again soon.
