dc278 - Spring 1903 Reminder - z93blom   (Nov 22, 2009, 12:38 pm)
Diplomats,

This is just a reminder for the Spring 1903 Movement that is due on Monday, 23th of November,  19:00 GMT (7PM). You currently have about 24½ hours left to change your orders.

dc278 - Winter 1902 Results - z93blom   (Nov 17, 2009, 3:42 pm)
Mike (and Jeffrey) pointed out an error, and they are quite correct. I made a mistake according to the house rules (I just went with what RealPolitik suggested). My bad. I hope not to repeat it again.

The Prussian unit is removed while the Danish Fleet remains. See attachments for the current status.

Hi Fredrik,
I was curious about the default disband choice, being that F Den is in a supply center, while Tyrolia and Prussia are not.  I checked the game, and it's listed as having the Default DC House Rules (aka no house rules specific to you).  Those say, quoting...
[*:ea44369795]Units furthest from the nearest home center before units closer to the nearest home center
[*:ea44369795]Units not in a supply center before units in a supply center if equidistant from home [*:ea44369795]Fleets before armies if still no unique unit selected per above [*:ea44369795]Alphabetical[/listSurprised:ea44369795]
By 1, Tyr/Pru/Den are equal, 1 space from the nearest home center.
By 2, Units not in a supply center first.  This means Pru or Tyr before Den.
By 3, Pru and Tyr are both armies
By 4, P comes before T and thus Pru should be removed?

Gentlemen,

Good morning gentlemen,

This morning we find ourselves definitely at war as two units need to retreat. The Turks find themselves dislodged and the German invasion of Russia is beaten back. The Turkish fleet had only one retreat option - the Aegean sea and it has been moved there. The German Army in Warsaw had two retreat options - Prussia and Ukraine. I retreated it to Prussia, but it could just as well have retreated to Ukraine. Jeffrey, please let us know your wishes as soon as possible. Since you are the only one that needs to retreat you can announce your wishes to everyone when you have decided.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline. Also - we've got Thanksgiving coming up. Let me know if you are planning to be out of touch during that time so that I can plan the deadlines accordingly.

Orders due:

Austria: 1 Build
England: 2 Builds
Germany: 1 Disband

Sorry for not being totally clear. I'll try to rectify this in the future. This turn it's the Fall 1902 Movement that is due.

/Fredrik

2009/11/13 Jafa T <jafainri(at)hotmail.com (jafainri(at)hotmail.com)>

Is there any chance you indicate on your deadlines what the expected orders are?

That is to say. "retreats and disband are due" or my favorite "Spring 1902 moves are due by"

It makes for less confussion and in my old age I need all the help I can get.

thanks,
tt

Apologies for not getting this out last night.

The spring movement has been adjudicated, and just looking at it makes my head hurt. I wonder what is going on - I can't for the life of me figure out what everyone is thinking. I'll leave the analysis to you. Despite all the movement across the board there are no retreats, and we'll move on into the Fall Movement of 1902.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline.

Is there any chance you indicate on your deadlines what the expected orders are?

That is to say. "retreats and disband are due" or my favorite "Spring 1902 moves are due by"

It makes for less confussion and in my old age I need all the help I can get.

thanks,
tt

You've now got approximately a day to get the orders in. I have some, but not a complete set yet - so get those orders in.

Gentlemen,

Apologies for not getting this out last night.

The spring movement has been adjudicated, and just looking at it makes my head hurt. I wonder what is going on - I can't for the life of me figure out what everyone is thinking. I'll leave the analysis to you. Despite all the movement across the board there are no retreats, and we'll move on into the Fall Movement of 1902.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline.

Good afternoon my Diplomats,

A happy GM is has for once received all orders before the time has run out. Keep up the good work.

Once again I'm confounded by all the movement across the board, although quite a lot of the movement failed to happen. I'm not going to analyze the situation, instead leaving the analysis up to you.

For the summer we have one retreat that is needed - the Italian Fleet stationed in Tunis needs to retreat. Tony, I've retreated the Fleet to the Ionian. If you'd rather retreat to North Africa or OTB, please let us know by 19:00 GMT Wednesday, otherwise the retreat stands.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline.

Next turn: Summer 1903 Retreat (Only Tony/Italy)
Next Deadline: Wednesday, 25th of November, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

You can send in preliminaries for the fall movement starting now. Make them conditional if you want to.

Upcoming turn: Fall 1903 Movement

dc278 - Spring 1902 Results (dc278) z93blom Nov 23, 03:53 pm
Good afternoon,

I made an error while adjudicating. The Marseille army was not ordered inland, instead it was ordered into Piedmont. This has slight implications for where some units will be located for the Fall movement. The following adjustments have been made:

France A Marseilles to Piedmont - *Bounce*
Italy A Venice to Piedmont - *Bounce*

England A Belgium to Burgundy - Success

Please see attached maps and RealPolitik file for changes.

The upcoming orders will still be due as before:

Gentlemen,

Well - we're off to a rough start here. Despite an extra week and a reminder a few days ago we've got an NMR from Turkey, which means that all his units stay where they are. Another NMR this season will see a replacement player brought in. The house rules state allow for the replacement to have a small time for negotiations in that case which I will allow.

Other than that all the orders were able to be carried out except for a slight disagreement (?) over who should occupy the English Channel.

No adjustments are called for, so we just move on to the next major season - Fall 1901. Deadline will be a week from now, Wednesday, 28th of October, 7 PM GMT, as usual. Again, I strongly urge you to submit preliminaries as soon as possible, since I will be out of town from Sunday to Wednesday, and will be unable to confirm moves at that point in time. You can keep on sending me ordersets until the start of the adjudication though - just make sure you label them with a number or something so that I'll know which one is the latest.

Dan, quoting Fredrik’s deadline:

I'll see if we can keep a weekly schedule, and make the adjudications be due on Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm ( Sweden , GMT + 1). The first turn will now be due the 21th of October, which should leave Tony plenty of time to talk to you all.

He said this twice. Once in the game-start mail, and then again in the mail introducing our new Italian -- there was no ambiguity.

If you were a newbie I’d grant you the “didn’t know it was a time and not a day” but you’ve been around the block this is your 6th game. Why no prelims?

All said, Turkey is the least awful country to NMR with in the first year due to your corner position. Now -- what shall we do about these Bulgarians that were fully expecting to be ransacked by the Turks in every single Diplomacy game ever played. It’s like groundhog day for Bulgaria -- only instead it’s Spring 1901, Turks invade. And this was the one game they woke up and found no rule-imposing Sultan there. Whatever will they do??? Smile

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible.

Actually, Fredrik, your reminders said Wednesday, 10/21/09 with no time requirement (GST or otherwise). Given that, I assumed I had until midnight today (10/21/09) to submit. The rough start to the game, with various delays, led me to believe you had chosen a day rather than an hour. If you are going to assign me an NMR and give me a hold for the first round, then you should start looking for your replacement now.

Dan, quoting Fredrik’s deadline:

I'll see if we can keep a weekly schedule, and make the adjudications be due on Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm (Sweden, GMT + 1).

Smile

I deleted that initial email by mistake and couldn't remember the actual deadline myself.

However, experience has taught me to always submit provisional orders early. There's always time afterwards to change them due to negotiations etc.

Again, I strongly urge you to submit preliminaries as soon as possible, since I will be out of town from Sunday to Wednesday, and will be unable to confirm moves at that point in time. You can keep on sending me orders ets until the start of the adjudication though - just make sure you label them with a number or something so that I'll know which one is the latest.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible.

Game on!

I deleted that initial email by mistake and couldn't remember the actual deadline myself.

However, experience has taught me to always submit provisional orders early. There's always time afterwards to change them due to negotiations etc.

.ExternalClass DIV {} Actually, Fredrik, your reminders said Wednesday, 10/21/09 with no time requirement (GST or otherwise). Given that, I assumed I had until midnight today (10/21/09) to submit. The rough start to the game, with various delays, led me to believe you had chosen a day rather than an hour. If you are going to assign me an NMR and give me a hold for the first round, then you should start looking for your replacement now.

Gentlemen,

We have had a disruption in the service provided for this game. It seems that our Italian player has overestimated his available time and has regretfully stepped down. While we are waiting for a replacement, feel free to send communications to each other and preliminary orders my way.

We will allow the new Italian a few days of communication before the next turn will be due, so that will push back the schedule a bit.

Expect more once I know who we have on board as a replacement.
