DC 347, Spring 1906 - offdisc   (Apr 03, 2011, 9:18 pm)

DC 347, Spring 1906 - ConradW   (Apr 02, 2011, 1:26 am)
Sorry folks I have a lot going on and obviously this game is not the top of mind type. I am open to settle things or tough it out, but maybe we could speed it up - that is up to Warren as he's been good enough to GM through this pain.

Can't see the
adjudication and the map won't open!

This game should
have been put out of its misery when we had the chance. I very nearly dropped
out of it myself because it has been the most soul destroying game of diplomacy
I have ever played. I really believe that in diplomaticcorp replacements should
be found in 1901 and 1902 and then the game should just continue if people drop
out. I cannot believe that in another game just started the GM allowed an NMR in
Spring 01 while this one has staggered from season to season with inordinate
delays that have clearly ruined the games. Frankly the delays have ruined it
more than the drop-outs.

Sigh....  y'know, I just
finished a game on DC that went 10 years without a single nmr....
unfortunately this in NOT that game. Another nmr, this time from
Germany. Charles? Please get in touch with me as soon as you
can.

Now, on
with the game. There are a few developments.  Just a note here that I
have just been forced (kicking and screaming all the way) to switch to a mac
here at work. As a result I don't seem to be able to copy the adjudication
from the mac version of RP... so instead I've attached a RP file of the orders
and I hope you are all able to get/see the orders as they were. Good luck with
that.

There are
two retreats due for summer. One from Russia and one from
Germany.

Russian
Army St. Pete can retreat to Livonia or OTB.

German
Army Prussia can retreat to Berlin or OTB.

A
reminder to those that might be new, or have forgotten. If I don't receive a
retreat order the unit will be disbanded, regardless of how many options it
might have.

I think
that about sums it up. Summer is due on Monday April 4, 17:00
MDT
.

Maps are
attached. If there is a problem with the .gif please let me know....  who
invented these stupid macs anyhow  Smile

Hey gang,

First of all Mike (Benyon), I apologise for the problems you're having with your soul. I agree this has been a very disrupted game, but as Mike (Hoffman) alluded to, I take no blame for it.  And I don't think I could ever be convinced to put the leading country into Civil Disorder at any point in a game.

I have figured out now how to get the orders out of RP, so that shouldn't be an issue from this point forward. I trust you all got them when Tim was kind enough to forward them on.

As Mike mentioned, there is a draw proposal now on the table (my bad, he mentioned it before and I forgot in my frustration to post it). It is for a G/I/R/E/F draw.  I think we know the Mikes votes, but I need three more yes votes for it to pass. Votes will be due with the fall orders unless I get everyone to agree before then.

Retreats, hopefully with a proper map, will be sent out later today.

You meant retreat? Yes, that would change things if
noone else got it. I always send them to myself as well, and I did get
it. It also went to the dc347 thread on the DC
site.

Did anyone else not get the fall adj? Mike have you
had any trouble like this before?

You meant retreat? Yes, that would change things if
noone else got it. I always send them to myself as well, and I did get
it. It also went to the dc347 thread on the DC
site.

Hi Group.

Say hi to Mike Hoffman, who will be taking over the Russian position. Thanks for stepping up Mike!

The new fall 1905 deadline will be next Monday, March 21, at 17:00 MDT. That's one hour earlier GMT (23:00) because of daylight savings time.

Dip away....

DC 347, Fall delayed - alwayshunted   (Mar 11, 2011, 8:09 pm)
Hi Group,

Well, the deadline has come and gone, and once again I have heard nothing from our Russian. I hope everything is alright with Paul.

Soooo, after a couple of hours of deliberation (seriously, not an easy decision to make), I have decided, once again, to put the game on hold and seek a replacement. In the interest of keeping this interesting game (for me anyway) interesting, the delay takes effect PRIOR to the fall 1905 adjudication. I'll run the turn with replacement orders. Of course any orders I have received to this point are still good.

Hang in there, it is frustrating for me as well. Shouldn't take long.

I haven't looked to
see where the rules stand on this one, but I don't think that the ruling on the
game-end proposal is in the best interests of all concerned.

Obviously if anyone
wants to vote no to the draw then fine, but if as I suspect four active players
vote yes and two inactive players don't vote I can't see that it helps if the
game-end proposal is defeated.

If Russia does drop
out I am not happy at the possibility of a replacement. My whole strategy in the
game has been based on building up a good understanding and alliance with Russia
and the possibility of him being replaced by a psychotic stabber or a complete
novice doesn't bear thinking about.

I have already been
stuffed once by the replacement of a useless England with someone who is a cross
between Albert Einstein and Paul McKenna and I don't want to leave this game
with nothing because of the constant change in personnel. If everyone still
playing wants a draw let's agree to put this game out of its
misery.

Okay, no word from Paul so his fleet goes
away. Anyone know what has become of our fearless Russian
leader?

There is a new proposal on the table for
a four way E/F/G/I. Votes are due with fall orders, and just a reminder that
it MUST be unanimous. That means I need six yes votes, but the person that
proposed it is already assumed to have voted yes.

Fall
1905 is due in one week, on Friday March 11, 17:00 MST.

New
maps are attached. Enjoy.

Well, we have two nmrs this spring, one from Turkey (not completely surprising) and one from Russia (much more surprising). The five way draw proposal fails, and we are moving onward.

Russia has a retreat due:

Russian F Gulf of Bothnia can retreat to Finland or OTB. As there is a choice of disbanding the unit, which is a possibility, I'm going to run this summer turn. The retreat is due tomorrow, March 4 at 17:00 MST.

Hey gang,

I forgot to mention the draw proposal, which failed. I think I probably wouldn't have forgotten it if it had passed....  hopefully.

Now, there is a new proposal on the table, votes will be due with orders next spring, not tomorrow. It is for a five way draw E/F/G/I/R.  Remember that it must be unanimous, and if you fail to submit a vote it counts as a no.

Cheers,

At long last, we are underway again. I've been on the road, sorry I'm late.

For once I think I actually have some idea of what is going on in a game I'm running.... but I'm sure I'm missing something.

So there was one retreat for Turkey, with only one option. Normally I make people submit a retreat order, but all things considered in this situation I ran the retreat from Constantinople to Aegean Sea.  Moving on to Winter 1904, a number of adjustments are due. See the bottom of the adjudication for the status. Winter will be due in two days, Wednesday February 23, 17:00 MST.
