DC436: Press - cbconnell   (Jan 25, 2013, 3:40 pm)
For immediate release....

----------
Well it seems that my hope for world peace is just that hope.?? Not only has my offer been rebuffed it was met with a threat from leader of that once great country, Germany.?? Sir you are planning so far ahead to attack my armies in the upcoming fall.?? You claim your threat was not personal but it can be taken no other way.?? Perhaps we could have come to an agreement that was good for both our lands.?? But then again, it is early and perhaps we can once again plan to spend the holidays together.

??

But until that point it is with great joy that we accept the gracious offer from the brave and honorable Sultan.?? It pleases me to be friends with a man you will honor his word and keep his fleets from the Black Sea.?? We do have a great history and the word Juggernaut comes to mind does it not??? And I see that the Italians have more than made it clear that your great land of Turkey will be the first target of the growing Austrian/Italy union.?? With your fleets and my armies and the help of our other fine allies, we can stop those who stand against us.

??

Fwd: DC436 - Gunboat clarification - cbconnell   (Jan 23, 2013, 11:02 pm)
I know some of our players have understood this particular game variation correctly, but I wanted to be VERY clear to all of our players - as I feel one fact may have been missed by some.

This game allows ALL types of press, white, grey, dark grey and black. Per the definition on the dipwiki website:

"Some gunboat games allow press to be published by the GM as a means
to facilitate some communication between players. Depending on the game,
some or all of the following may be allowed:

White Press - statements that are attributed correctly to the author
Gray Press - statements that are published anonymously
Dark Gray Press - statements unofficially attributed to an author (either the correct one or otherwise)
Black Press - statements officially attributed to an author other than the actual writer

A Full Press Gunboat game allows all the above types of press"This game is a "full press" gunboat game - meaning that all types of press will be accepted. Press you read could be any one of the 4 types - DO NOT ASSUME IT IS "WHITE PRESS"!

The fact that this is a "full press game" was and is listed on the game description on the diplomaticcorp.com website, however I will admit that the website was the only place it was listed and I did not make that clear again in the game-start emails.

Feel free to inflict havoc on the other players by being creative and write press posing as your favorite enemy power... or to just keep other players guessing as to what will happen next.?? Just remember that press will be published to all players. Also, I will not ask you to declare what type of press you are submitting; so be sure to include your greetings (addressee) or signature (addressor) clearly in the press. I will NOT automatically add your country name as the addressor if it is left blank (hopefully for obvious reasons).

Also remember--- you are not required to submit press - or read it!

As to the timing of press... I am willing to accept and publish press when it is received. If too much press interferes with my personal ability to publish it, I will have to be more restrictive on the schedule of published press.

However, press sent outside of "regular" press publishing times may be easier to attribute to a particular country.?? So, this is what I think will work (if it needs to be modified later, I will let everyone know):

Send press (if any) with orders to be published with the results of each Spring and Fall season. The deadline is the same as the orders for that season.
I will publish another press "season" after the winter builds - the deadline will be over the weekend -- like Saturday night or Sunday morning. I will let you know the timing with the Fall results

I will publish other press as requested - EXCEPT if the press is received less than 24 hours before the next regular Spring or Fall orders are due.

Thanks for reading.

Craig

For immediate release:

England to France

For
both our immediate securities may I recommend a bounce in the channel.
This will allow us each to pursue our fall aims without fear of a stab.
We have much
to gain from non-combat and our enemies would be delighted to see us
embarking upon a pointless struggle.
----------------------------------------------------
The
great Sultan wishes to beseech the noble Tsar Nicholas to consider the
mutual history honor and traditions of our great nations. As such in an
offer of divine munificence I humbly offer the de militarization of the
Black Sea and hope you will do likewise.

----------------------------------------------------

Germany wishes to express to all countries that we have no ill will. We
will claim what is ours and see who our enemies are. Please let us know
how we can be of assistance.----------------------------------------------------

Good day to you all.?? I hope this note finds each leader is doing
well.?? I would like to propose a DIAS.?? That way there will be no hurt
feelings and we can all continue to get along nicely.
??
Have a great day my friends.
??
See you all at the palace for Holiday dinner.

Hi
this is a message to everyone, I won???t say from whom for obvious
reasons. Well to put it bluntly the stats show only half the story when
it comes
to gunboat diplomacy. The clear winner is France again and again. I???ve
said it so you guys better listen up, they???ve got the best start up
ever. Mark my words dudes it won??? be pretty if you all sit back. You
have been warned!
??----------------------------------------------------

Dear Austria
Greetings
from Italy. I will be straight to the point if I may. Please allow my
Venice army into tri. In the fall please destroy my Venice army now in
tri thus
reclaiming your home center. I will then rebuild said unit as a fleet
and we can sail our own separate ways. ??
Kind regards
Italy----------------------------------------------------

Apologies
Russia but I will be bouncing Sweden from den in the fall, it???s only
fair I let you know, it is not personal just self preservation.

We've
got seven confirmed players, so we're ready to rock and roll!?? Our game
number is DC436. The game number's important as I need you to use it in
the headers of any emails you send me, per the house rules. It makes
everything??easier!??It is not good enough to simply reply to emails from me with your orders. You??must??put very specific information in your subject lines to me every time you send an email:

the accepted format is: DC436 [country name] [season] [order version]examples: DC436 England Fall 02 v1; DC436 France Winter Builds 1904 v3; DC436 Germany Spring 05

Our first move deadline will be Monday, October 1 at 8:30 PM MDT (02:30 02-10-12 GMT)

However, I will accept any press you wish to send out as we are planning Spring 01 moves.

send them to me with "DC436: [country name] PRESS" before Friday, September 28 at 6:00 PM MDT (00:00 GMT 29-10-12)

A couple of notes:

??1. Be sure to check out the house rules, which are linked from the page of the game and included on a previous email.

??

2. In this game, you will (may?) rely on press to
communicate with other players?? - just forward me the message you want
sent, and I'll pass it on.

??3.
I'd encourage you to send preliminary orders in - you never know when
technology will let you down or you'll be caught without email access!

??

4. Any questions about the game or rules I'm happy to help - just drop me an email

---just keep swimming!
