Hello fellows

I am one of the 19. I don't really have time for the game I'm already in. I can hang in there if everyone wants to get started or if someone else wants to give it a go that would be better.

Thanks-Dave

It just needs one more player... I'm anxious as any to give it another go!

Regular Dip Treaty Variant Sun deadlines - hapolley   (Oct 07, 2011, 6:21 pm)
While we wait for the blitz you can try out my Variant to be played with one week deadlines and anticipated Summer and Winter Orders.

If interested email me [hapolley(at)yahoo.ca]

Diplomacy Treaty Variant
=========================
Players are encouraged to make written treaties with other players in the game.

A.1 How Treaties are established!
A treaty sent to The Game Master by email from each party to the treaty will be assigned to a Provence on the board and named with it's start season, end year, and SC abbreviation, and added to a press list of treaties. Eg. Sp02Ber
Observers will only know that Germany has a treaty with another power which ends in Wt02.
A.2 Treaties with the games neutral power are allowed, but can not require the Neutral unit to make any military order. You can not make the treaty with the clause - if a Neutral power's unit is adjacent to my unit it will provide support. However the reverse is allowed. GM controls Neutral power and can declare a treaty violation.
A.3 A Treaty must have at least one military clause to be valid.
Eg. German unit Ber will not enter Pru.
A.4 If an SC assigned to one or more treaties changes Ownership. The new owner may tell the GM to publish all treaties assigned to his new SC. The GM will do so even if new owner is a party to one of the Treaties. It is all treaties published or none, selective publication is not allowed.
B.1 Treaties end!
Treaties must end on a Winter Season and have a maximum life of 3 Game years, starting with the games next season.
B.2 Treaty ended by violation!
A player may ask for a treaty to be ended do to a violation by one or more of the other parties to the treaty. He can not ask for treaty to be ended because he has violated the treaty!
B.3 Treaties end with game!
At end of game all treaties are published.
C.1 Treaty enforcement!
A military move or order which violates a treaty will not be interfered with by the GM!
C.2 If a player notifies the GM at the end of a movement season and before the next movement phase that a treaty has been violated and the GM agrees that the treaty has been violated, the GM will take the following steps:
C.3 He will publish the treaty in the press section of the results, and declare the Treaty null and void.
C.4 He will in the next move season use Engineer Civil Disorder Moves to negate any attacks on adjacent units by the treaty offenders.
D.1 The game starts out gunboat style, to get the name and email of a player you must have a treaty with him. If you can prove to the GM's satisfaction that a party to a valid treaty has passed on your name and e-mail to another player, you can end the treaty before it's expire date.
D.2 Send as attachment proposed treaties to GM who will forward treaties to countries listed in the email. Do not hide parties to the treaty in attachment as on most occasions GM will not read attachment.
D.3 Yes Press is welcome and these are Black Press games.

Long Time Control - FuzzyLogic   (Oct 04, 2011, 6:26 pm)

Does anybody run a game thats a move per week?
Mojo

Hi,
That isn't too unreasonable. Most games are done on a week per major turn - which usually works out to about 5 days for the major turn followed by 2 days for the retreats or builds. Occasionally you'll see games that do a full 7 days for the major turn. You can always turn in conditional retreats and builds with your movement orders if you want to not have to worry about the 2-day deadline for adjustments...

Hi All,

I would really like to play a game of diplomacy online, but I need a game that runs slow, so that I have enough time to play, diplome, get my moves in, around the rest of my life.

Does anybody run a game thats a move per week?

Seismic - kevinokelly   (Sep 16, 2011, 6:28 pm)
I LOVE Seismic, however, the cast of characters is shaping up to be a repeat of the last Seismic, which isn't good for me. Smile Steve Cap will replace Steve the Penguin. Can anyone get Trout back on the list? Or will a new fish be caught in Warren's net. Warren's net, you may ask... well just look at DC99 and you'll know why I bring that up. It was a classic game.

Can't wait for this one to start!

Roll up for a good ol' game of Shift-Right! - vegas_iwish   (Aug 19, 2011, 9:20 pm)
People who run straight home ruin the game & should just play Standard. Can win w/o ever getting home if play well. Interedict/destroy others as 1 disband critical early. Again: if want to run home then play just play Standard.

Come on you lot - there's a game of Shift-Right available for you to get your teeth stuck into in the Open Games section of our site!

This is a relatively rare run-out for the classic 70s variant, involving a long trek home before being able to retake and defend one's home centres. It's a big challenge trying to work out how to get one's units home with the help of your 'allies'... Will you get home in time to build? Or will your 'allies' win the race?

There's three spots left to fill - get in there early to avoid disappointment!

Turkey needed for Game Start! - Douglas_E_Fresh   (May 16, 2011, 3:48 am)
Game DC385 - Our Turkey has abandoned the game of 1900 before it has begun! - All players are waiting patiently and I am seeking a replacement to jump in and save our skins and get this game up and running as soon as possible. Suitable Dip time will be given to whichever star can fill the gap. Please email me at douglasefresh AT googlemail DOT com if you are ready and willing. Sorry - no newbies or players with a dodgy record for NMR/abandonments.

Looking for a few other players - Blueraider0   (Apr 13, 2011, 3:48 pm)
No, they would not. They are not DC members and try as I might I cannot convince them to join. They don't like the idea of playing with strangers. Lame, I know.

I might be willing to join. I'm going to CodCon this weekend so things have felt hectic as I get ready for that. But once I'm back I'll be able to take a clear look at my schdule and decide whether I can make such a commitment.....
Sorry I couldn't be more useful!

Hi everyone,

OK, so now I'm back down to six players again for re001, the standard game of Dip that's going to begin soon we all hope.

After waiting for over two weeks to get the game going, we had a seventh member of dc volunteer to join the game - thanks alwayshunted - but unfortunately one of the other players then needed to drop out.

Still, it's better now than in the middle of the S02 moves or something!

So, I need to renew my call to all of you to consider getting involved into a fun-packed session of the best game known to man or beast, Standard Diplomacy! Please do sign up as soon as you can!

thanks

Looking for a few other players - Blueraider0   (Feb 22, 2011, 7:21 pm)
I am willing to GM if no other such GM was found. But if someone else could GM, I'd love to play and certainly everyone might feel better about the GM being as impartial as possible. That said, if we can get a GM they can post the game on DC. But my friends don't have DC accounts and they refuse to make any (there's no good reason, just laziness), so we'd have to say we're capping the game at 2 players (my 4 friends + me = 5) and explain why. Mike, is that an offer to GM???
