By unanimous consent, a 3-way draw has been declared between Russia, The Habsburg Empire and the Danes. Congratulations to Matt, Steve and Andrew for their victory. Also, a hearty pat-on-the-back goes to Jonathan and Fletch for their weathering the storm and surviving the Tempest.
My thanks to all of you for battling this one out, and sticking it out to the very end. If you have an EOG statement, it would definitely be appreciated. Once again, congratulations to our draw participants and thanks to everyone for playing. I definitely enjoyed running this little period piece.

It was a very close thing, everyone. Please take prelim submittals under advisement. =)
But the action... Denmark finds out how cold the Russian Steppes can be as the Tsar recovers Moscow. The map-spanning Danish have more success in Iberia, securing Granada and stepping into Navarre. Meanwhile the Habsburgs make a trip to the Sun-Kings palace and the French continue to stand at attention as the war rages around them...
Just one retreat needed, but the Danish Moscow garrison had only Tula to fall back to. Matt, I took the liberty - but if OTB is preferred then please just let me know. Also, if any other errors are spotted in this adjudication just give me a holler.

My fellows of the 1600s...
Now, granted, I failed to get a deadline reminder out last night for the Spring 1609 turn. However, being presented with only two out of five players with orders in on time does present quite a pretty picture. Or not-so-pretty, as the case might be.
Those players who are AWOL have been notified in a seperate email. Although none of the three offenders has a grace period remaining, I will allow 12 hours order submittal time before seeking out replacements.
Apologies for the delay. My thanks to those players who thought enough of their fellows to get their orders in on time.

Thanks for the patience everyone, as I attempted to gather orders from all players. Unfortunately, word never did come in from Jerry. Happily though, the fearsome Deathblade Penguin (Steve) has volunteered to venture forward and send in some moves in the good Sergeant Todd's stead. This enables us to keep the game moving for the moment until Jerry makes contact again.
And its definitely a turn worth waiting for - some very tumultuous times hit the board with the Fall of 1604. Sweden gets scrunched - but still manages to fend off the worst of it while keeping good humour. Meanwhile, France takes advantage of a rare lapse on the part of the Habsburgs and sneakily takes Venice. (With no order for the army in Illyria submitted, the Austrian sailors stand to but find nothing there to transport...)
Two retreats are required before we move on to Winter adjustments. Deadline for the Early Winter 1604 retreats will be set for Saturday, July 5th (11:59 PM GMT). Also, please note that due to a player absence we will have a slight delay in the game between July 8th and July 25th. The summer doldrums will give us time to brush up on our Shakespeare. =)

There's high adventure in the North Seas as Denmark and England swap centers. Meanwhile our new Frenchman conducts business admirably despite the slight handicap while Sweden takes a hit and the Ottoman Empire gets diced. My thanks to Rob, the Chicken of Bristol, for stepping in and manning that sinking ship.
Two retreats are required, although one is slightly irrelevent. Spain has to relocate the army in Tuscany and the Ottomans need to relocate their unit in Constantinople. We'll space the Autumn and Winter phases out slightly longer, this time around, to accomodate our travelling players schedule. Deadline for Early Winter 1603 retreats will be set for Wednesday, June 11th (11:59 PM GMT).

Heya Folks of 1600,
As I've previously announce, unfortunately we've had to replace our England and Ottoman players. Ideally replacements are never the best situation, but in this case I felt the positions still had sufficient game impact to warrent new players into the fold. As such, please welcome Jerry Todd as England and Rob Bristol as the Ottoman Tiger. Their emails are included in the player roster below.
Happily, both players have provided prelim orders - which means I now have orders from everyone for the Spring 1603 turn. However, I wouldn't mind giving you guys a chance to meet and greet our new arrivals, and for them to get a feeling for the knives that lay about the land. Revised deadline for Spring 1603 will be set for Thursday, May 29th (11:59 PM GMT).

With apologies to any of our good friends in the legal profession reading this.. =P (I didn't write it - blame Shakespeare....)
Most of the neutrals get gobbled up, although some fancy footwork is pulled in the south to keep Poland out of Bessarabia. Sweden crosses the Baltic, England takes the Scots and Russia makes a break for Asia.
No retreats are required and everyone gets at least one build. There appears to be a little issue with the RP file for Spanish builds however - I suspect the Spanish home centers were not designated. I'll dig into it tonight...
Also, with chagrin I admit that the missing orders from last night were not, in fact, missing. My apologies to you all and for the player in question for misfiling their orders like the bozo I am... Let me know if you spot any errors in this one. Cheers!

Heya folks,
I'm missing two sets of Winter 1901 adjustments, unfortunately. The players in question have been notified and I'll give them a little bit to respond. Hopefully they'll do so in short order.
I've also had to tinker with the RealPolitik variant files. I don't quite understand it - but the RP variant wasn't allowing for any Spanish builds. I solved the problem with some minor edits to the .map and .gam files. (For those who care, I adjusted the Spanish letter abbreviation from 'I' to 'S'.) I've attached those files - all you have to do is to replace the versions in your 1600 variant folder with these ones. Also had to redo the Spring and Fall .dpy files - those are attached as well.
Also, please note that we now have a game forum: dc172(at)diplomaticcorp.com ([email]dc172(at)diplomaticcorp.com[/email]) All turn adjudications will be copied there - and I highly encourage any of you to submit press there as well. =)

The path is smooth that leadeth on to danger ...
On such a smooth path lie England and Poland. Only by a daring Bavarian strike on Lorraine do the Spaniard avoid losing the entire lowlands - Flanders is saved but the Netherlands is not so lucky. Meanwhile, through sacrificing Bessarabia the Poles manage to hold on to Cracow. They are decimated in the north, however, through a combined Swedish / Russian action.
As a friend once said - Lots of Action... Lots of Action.. =)

Hmm. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop licking Toad...
Sorry folks, even though I swear that I entered the moves correctly, it looks as though I failed to enter the Habsburg move from West Hungary to Serbia. The result is that the Ottomans get dislodged in Serbia and need to retreat to either Illyria or Bulgaria.
The corrected map and .dpy file are attached. Both the Polish and the Ottoman retreat are due on Friday, Apr 18th (11:59 PM GMT).

Well - the deadline has arrived and I have neither one of our required retreats. We'll give our two players a little bit of a break and extend for 24 hours rather than retreat both units off the board right out of hand. Revised deadline for Early Winter 1601 retreats will be set for Saturday, Apr 19th (11:59 PM GMT).

Armies spring up in Jutland, Croatia, Moscow, Estonia and Stockholm. A new fleet is raised in Voronezj. And on the flip side of the coin, forces melt from the map in Azerbaijan and Volhynia...
