NNIGTFML f1843 results! - AlanRFarrington   (Feb 08, 2010, 11:30 pm)
Congratulations Frederik on a well earned solo. I'd like to convince myself that it was due to outstanding tactics and brilliant diplomacy but I just can't do that. Nation after nation in Northern Llamaland fell without any resistance to you, and when resistance was put up (and doing very well I might add) it was squashed by an overeager ally looking to pick up a few easy dots.

Alan,

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now? He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?). Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16. Lots can change in the next few years.

Yes I am assuming that Fredrik will win now. Without my resistance in the North, Colombia's Venezuala's and Peru's centers should all be no trouble for Frederik to sweep up. With those all going to Brazil he would only need 1 more of mine.

Tell you what Alan,

Why don't you put forth a proposal for Solo for Brasil. I'll sure vote for it, but I doubt that everyone else will. Things are not so clear cut.

Yes I am assuming that Fredrik will win now.  Without my resistance in the North, Colombia's Venezuala's and Peru's centers should all be no trouble for Frederik to sweep up.  With those all going to Brazil he would only need 1 more of mine.

Alan,

I'm confused, is this assuming that Fredrik will win now?  He's on 10, Greg's on 12, and either one needs to reach 20 to solo (or 21?).  Even if Fredrik alone gets all your centres, that only takes him to 16.  Lots can change in the next few years.

DC-272 Fall 1461 Adjudication - TheWhiteWolf   (Feb 08, 2010, 6:08 pm)
Guys,
All orders are in (one set four minutes before deadline - talk about skills!) and we're ready to go. I'd like to thank Mike Sims for standing in as the Turks, but it's time for him to hand the scepter back to Max. Please conduct all further negotiations with him. The draw result, as well as a new draw proposal, are below.

dc291 spring 1905 results! - coryfucius   (Feb 08, 2010, 5:36 pm)
Yet another eventful turn, with plenty of movement and some intrigue as well.

It's almost all quiet on the western front, as France and England bounce each other in Brest, while England ignores the well-defended Low Countries. Elsewhere, we have multiple centers trading hands. England overcomes the combined German/Russian forces to sail into Denmark. Austria reoccupies Vienna, as Italy moves eastward to Galicia. Russia moves back to Moscow, yet also advances its lone-wolf army to Piedmont. And Turkey continues to push armies northward into Russia's former possessions.

We do have a summer retreat due:
The German fleet in Denmark may retreat to Baltic Sea, Helgoland Bight, Skagerrak, or OTB.

Nigs, since you have multiple retreat options, I won't issue a default order, you will need to send your own retreat order. The summer 1905 retreat is due tomorrow, Tuesday 2/9 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.

Problem with RealPolitik on Win 7 - 64bit - z93blom   (Feb 08, 2010, 3:22 pm)
Hi!

Just got an new computer at work, and its a 64 bit machine running Windows 7 64-bit.

Realpolitik doesn't appear to run correctly on this machine, and I was wondering if there are any other people out there running Realpolitik on such a machine, and if they are running into the same problems?

The program starts, shows up in the task bar, but the main window never appears.

I managed a workaround - install RP in another directory - not C:\Program Files (x86). The problem probably involves read-write access to the folder in which the program is installed.

Blitzers,

Sorry for the late adjudication, but I was waiting for a confirmation for an unexpected order. The deadline has passed however, and I will not wait until tomorrow to do the adjudication, therefore the strange order will have to be adjudicated as is.

There are no retreats necessary this season, so we will move right into the Fall season.

DC300 - 1902 Spring adjudication - bielf11   (Feb 08, 2010, 1:01 pm)
Spring 1902: the year of the conflict.
Austria is under heavy attack from Italy, Russia, Germany, and some even think Turkey's orders were inspired as such.
Meanwhile the office of tourism of the Balkan finds itself overwhelmed by the people pouring into the place: aside from the Austrians, there are Italians, Russians, and Turks. The Italians cry murder as they see their favorite spot taken by the Turks. The Russians, armed with Lonely Planet's guide on Budapest, hastily retreat as soon as Austrians decide to spend Summer at home.

On the other side of the european mainland we see Germany and England bounce in the North Sea. And the Russians have used all the power they could gather to attack the English in Norway.
And France: it's looking at all these skirmishes and probably thinking "laissez faire".

The English fleet in Norway is forced out by the Russians.

DC289: Annoyed GM - FuzzyLogic   (Feb 08, 2010, 11:31 am)
Generally you will find some new players in any standard game (re001 on the open games page - it is typically the proving ground). Variants tend to draw vets. Many GM's run games that are invite-only. You'll discover these and other ways to get into higher caliber game as you get to know ppl.

Of those currently open,
* Ben's Sengoku game is a very experienced group, he's only allowing in reputable players. i.e. must have completed some games, and have minimal NMR's (not even looking at abandons, down to the NMR level). Join that one if you want to face some of the best. Complex game w some extra rules.
* I have my own personal Haven creation open, and to this one I'm not as strict as Ben, but I do have to at least have some conversation w all entrants to see if I think they're in it to the end.
* Charles' 1926 is another strong group, but may be full (not sure)

The standard game (re001) is the one game that we keep open for anyone to join. Others are in some cases more selective, other cases not - up to the individual GM.

I admit waiting for a replacement and giving them a week is the only fair system. It kind of sucks though.

I don't favor drawing this game because whatever game we go to next is likely to have the same problems. Is there a game series that is only for players that have completed at least one game?

If any of you committed players want to join a second game in the mean time, you're welcome to do so. You may have to ask a GM to put you in the game if you're new and the system only lets you into 1 game at a time. Just so you arent holding here waiting forever for a game to start.

I completely agree and I'd say that if anyone has doubts about their commitment to the game now would be the time to drop out. That way this should be the last replacement for a while.

Hi All,
The way I see it, we have three
options:
1. Find a replacement and allow a
sufficient amount of time for him to meet and negotiate with
everyone.
2. Continue the game using some ad-hoc,
six-player rules.
3. Have someone propose a 6-way draw;
everyone signs up for new games and hopes for the
best.
I strongly favor option 1 and strongly disfavor
option 2. If anyone disagrees, now would be the time
to speak up. Feel free to e-mail me privately on this
matter.
Cheers,
Matthew

DC 293: S1905 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Feb 08, 2010, 10:49 am)
From Belgium through Berlin (including Denmark), there's lots of change on the coast. France and Russia move in while England and Germany are movin' out. Oddly, there are no retreats (but the dislodged German fleet from Berlin disbands).

The Boot of Italy witnesses many changes, too, in a sort of counterclockwise way. The end effect is two Italian retreats:

F Ionian may retreat to Albania, Apulia, Tunis, or off the board
A Venice may retreat to Rome, Tuscany, or off the board

I will process S1905R tomorrow at 10:00 CST.

Generally speaking, my two favorite nations to play are Austria and Germany, but you couldn't pay me to have either one of them on this board. Along with Italy, the Central Powers are getting rudely treated. Almost certainly, one of you is building up some pretty bad kharma right about now.

DC289: Annoyed GM - FuzzyLogic   (Feb 08, 2010, 8:34 am)
Hey guys,
Just watching quietly here as I help out finding new players for games that need them... It's actually good (in a way) that the quitters weed out early. Since you have Matthew running your game, and not some automated system, when things like this come up, at least you know that he is going to find a good group, and the game will eventually be "on".

3. Have someone propose a 6-way draw;
everyone signs up for new games and hopes for the
best.
I strongly favor option 1 and strongly disfavor
option 2. If anyone disagrees, now would be the time
to speak up. Feel free to e-mail me privately on this
matter.
Cheers,
Matthew

arn't counted for 5 years. That way his neighbors
don't have free SCs to immediately go after. I
guess France and England are the only ones that wouldn't

Or, what if we all submitted orders for Austria?
Whichever move order got the most would be what that unit
