Dc302 Fall 1903 - psychosis1973   (Apr 07, 2010, 3:44 pm)
Firstly, an apology. This is 24 hours late. No excuses this time - I just plain forgot.

Anyway, some interesting developments this turn, not least in the North, where England leaves the Russian homeland in exchange for Russian support into Sweden, evicting Germany in the process. The other centres to change hands this turn are Vienna, where Italy occupies with Russian support, and Rumania, where Turkey forces his way in.

As we've got multiple retreat options for the German fleet, I haven't auto retreated. I'll therefore need retreats from both Austria and Russia by 2100GMT tomorrow, Thursday 8th April. We can then move onto Winter adjustments...

German F Sweden can retreat to Finland or Gulf of Bothnia or
Skagerrak.
Austrian A Vienna can retreat to Bohemia.

Apologies for the further delay.  I
set the deadline for Monday night not realising I was at a
football (soccer) match, and last night unexpected house
guests meant I couldn't get the results out...

Anyway, Spring 1903 sees further action across the board,
with Russia continuing to get squeezed, losing both Berlin
and Sevastopol, whilst England is evicted from the continent
by France.

The Russian army in Sevastopol can only retreat to Moscow,
so I've made that retreat.  If Russia wants to disband
said army, let me know asap.

Fall 1903 deadline is Tuesday 6th April at 2100 GMT.
Slightly longer than i'd normally set due to Easter holiday

DC302 Winter 1902 adjustments - psychosis1973   (Mar 24, 2010, 4:10 pm)
Winter 1902 adjustments - and fleets are order of the day, with four raised across Europe. Unfortunately, Austria didn't get his disband in, so, per my house rules, I've disbanded his fleet in Albania, as the only force he had not in a home centre. This counts as a NMR by Austria.

Spring 1903 deadline is Monday 29th March at 2100 GMGT

Austria:
Remove F Albania

England:
Build F Edinburgh
Build A London

France:
Build F Brest

Germany:
Build F Kiel

Turkey:

DC302 Fall 1902 moves - psychosis1973   (Mar 23, 2010, 12:47 pm)
Chaps

Quick note to let you all know that England has chosen to disband his army in Belguim rather than retreat to Picardy. This gives England two builds to make. I won't be able to generate a revised map prior to the original adjustments deadline, so you'll just have to imagine the previous map without an English army in Picardy. Squint if you need to!

Deadline for all winter adjustments remains 2100 GMT tomorrow, Wednesday 24th March. Those submitting adjustments already can obviously change those adjustments in light of England's decision to disband.

Lots of activity across Europe in
Fall 1902, with rather a lot of bounces!

In the east, Russia's attempts to take back Rumania would
have been thwarted, were it not for Austria withdrawing to
Budapest, meaning Rumania is vacant and remains
Russian.  Turkey takes Serbia off Austria, and manuvers
fleets in a threatening manner.  Italy shuffles forces,
moving more armies onto the Austrian border.

In the west, the major development is France forcing his
way into Belguim, evicting England in the process.
Both German forces bounce English attacks, and for the
second season running, Russia tries to support an attack on
Munich, but finds the attacking army does something else.

The English army in Belguim only has one valid retreat (to
Picardy), so I've made that retreat.  Matt - if you
want to disband the army, let me know asap, so I can let
folk know.

Subject to the English retreat being changed, I need
adjustments off five people - see list below.  Can I
have winter adjustments in by 2100GMT on Wednesday 24th
March.  If people want to get adjustments in early,
I'll adjudicate winter once all have been received.

We're finally able to run the Spring
1902 turn, and there's lots of action across the
board.  Russia seems to be really under the cosh,
losing St Petersburg and Sevastopol to a combination of
Turkish, Austrian and English aggression, and ordering a
support that isn't taken up.  One consolation is he
forces Austria out of Galicia.  In the west, england
takes Holland, destorying the German army in the process,
whilst Italy and France rearrange their forces.

A retreat is needed from Austria - Austrian A Galicia can
retreat to Budapest or Vienna or Bohemia or Silesia or
OTB.  Can I have this retreat by Thursday 18th March
2100 GMT.  If I receive it earlier than that, I'll run
the turn earlier and adjust the Fall deadline accordingly.

Thanks

retreat to Budapest or Vienna or Bohemia or Silesia or

2100 GMT.  If I receive it earlier than that, I'll run
the turn earlier and adjust the Fall deadline accordingly.

Thanks

DC302 Announcement - psychosis1973   (Mar 09, 2010, 4:19 am)
Gentlemen

I've been in touch with the German player and he's asked to withdraw from the game. Given the early stage the game is still at, I'll be seeking a replacement for the German position. As such, I'm placing the game on hold until a replacement player is found. You'll shortly see the opening for the replacement player on the DC website. Once I've got a replacement lined up, I'll be back in touch with a new deadline

DC302 Fall 1901 moves - psychosis1973   (Mar 04, 2010, 3:23 pm)
Winter 1901 sees forces raised all across Europe, with 5 fleets and 5 armies appearing. Unfortunately, I received no build order from Germany, so that build is waived. This is Germany's first missed order, and a further missed order will result in me seeking a replacement.

Spring 1902 is due on the slightly longer deadline on 2100GMT on Thursday 11th March, due to the absence of the French player for the next few days.

DC302 Fall 1901 moves - psychosis1973   (Mar 02, 2010, 3:19 pm)
Fall 1901 sees conflict escalate in Europe, with Austria and Germany coming out the worse... In the West, France helps England into Belguim...Germany takes Holland, but sees a Russian army in Berlin. Unsurprisingly Russia is bounced out of Sweden by Germany, but compensates in the South by supporting himself into Rumania, standing out an Austria attack. Austria loses Trieste to Italian forces, whilst Turkey moves into Greece.

We move straight onto Winter builds, with everyone bar Austria needing to submit builds. Deadline for builds is 2100GMT on Thursday 4th March.

Adjustments:

Austria: Supp 3 Unit 3 Build 0
England: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
France: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
Germany: Supp 4 Unit 3 Build 1
Italy: Supp 5 Unit 3 Build 2
Russia: Supp 6 Unit 4 Build 2

DC302 Spring 1901 - psychosis1973   (Feb 25, 2010, 3:32 pm)
And the conflict in Europe starts...

Everyone got moves in on time, thankfully!

The opening moves see a dispute between Russia and Turkey with a bounce in the Black Sea. Austria opens cautiously, with two forces holding, with his caution possibly warranted, as Italy sends two armies in Austria's direction. Elsewhere, Germany may be feeling uncomfortable, with opposing forces in Silesia and Burgundy putting pressure on Munich.

Attached are a movement map, a results map and a Realpolitick file. The game page on the diplomaticcorp.com website has also been updated. Deadline for Fall 1901 is Tuesday 2nd March at 2100GMT. Preliminaries are strongly encouraged. PLease note that due to a player request, the deadline after Fall 1901 won't be until around a week later i.e. longer than usual

DC302 Spring 1901 deadline - psychosis1973   (Feb 24, 2010, 9:26 am)
Folks

The Spring 1901 deadline is on Thursday 25th February at 2100GMT - around 32 hours away. Consider this email your reminder.

Note that to date, I haven't received preliminary moves from Austria. If I don't receive moves by the above deadline from Austria, then my approach will be to not run the turn, and instead seek a replacement Austria, and set a new Spring 1901 deadline. I'm hopeful this won't be necessary, but just to give you fair warning.

Everyone else has submitted preliminaries, which I'll use unless I receive updated moves prior to the deadline.

Thanks

Michael

Gentlemen

Welcome to a new game of standard diplomacy on the
diplomaticcorp website!  I'm Michael, your friendly
neighbourhood GM, and I'll be your guide during this
game.  I've been playing Diplomacy on the site for a
few years now (with varying degrees of success), and

this is

my third game as GM.

It's been a while getting started, but the game is

now

ready to launch.  Please take the time to read this
introductory email!

HOUSE RULES

Important:  My house rules are here.  Read them!

http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/houserules/psychosis1973.doc

These are also available on the game's webpage.

Key points are:
- my say is final.  I'm the GM.  I am the law!
- I live in the UK.  Bear this in mind when

expecting

replies to emails from me!
- I'll acknowledge receipt of orders - without
acknowledgement, your orders haven't reached me
- I'll send out reminders for moves as deadlines

approach,

but it's ultimately the responsibility of players to

get

moves in on time
- can you label your moves with the game number

(which

we'll get shortly), the power you control, and the

year and

season they relate to
- the bit about me not receiving your moves - two

strikes

and you're out

DIPLOMATICCORP WEBSITE

I'll email out adjudications shortly after the

deadline and

update the game page on the diplomaticcorp website at

the

same time. We're game DC301 on the site - you should

all

have the game now linked on your profile page.  The
game will shortly have a dedicated forum on the
diplomaticcorp site. Feel free to use it!

MESSAGES

Players can send anonymous messages (grey press)

through

the GM - these can be sent out with adjudications, or
immediately - your choice!  Useful for stirring

things

up amongst other powers!

DEADLINES

The Spring 1901 moves are due to me 9PM GMT on

Thursday 25

February. I strongly encourage players to every season

send

in preliminary moves as soon as possible.  This will
allow me to review your moves and point out any

problems

(e.g., invalid orders, missing or misplaced units,

etc.)

that may present themselves in sufficient time for you

to

correct them!

To ensure everyone's still committed to the game, I'm
making preliminaries compulsory for the first turn -

could

everyone therefore send me preliminary moves by Monday

22

February.  I can then be reassured that the game's
going smoothly.

I've given a bit more time for those all important

first

turn negotations.  As a rough indication, future
deadlines beyond the first turn are planned to be as
follows:

Fall 1901: Tuesday 2 March
Fall 1901 retreats (if needed): Thursday 4 March

I'll generally try to have four days for major turns

and

one or two days for retreat and adjustment turns

thereafter

DEADLINE EXTENSIONS

Happy to extend deadlines on request, but please give

me

plenty of warning!

POWER ALLOCATIONS

And the bit you've all been waiting for....who's got

what

country!

So, we have...in charge of the dual monarchy, playing

as

Austria...Steve Andrew (stevenseph1-at-aim.com)

Say hello to the island ruler, playing as

England...Matt

Barnes(mlb767-at-aim.com)

Munching smelly cheese, garlic and other

stereotypical

Gallic food, and playing as France...Simon

Langley-Evans (Simon.Langley-evans-at-nottingham.ac.uk)

Guten Tag to our German player...Ajay Bhan (ajkbhan-at-gmail.com)

Say "Ciao bella!" to the Italian Stallion...Brian

Miller(chessman121212-at-gmail.com)

Coming out of the east, the Russian Bear...Sean

O'Donnell

(sean_o_donnell-at-hotmail.com)

And finally, our Turkish Delight...Mike Read (porkbelly00-at-gmail.com)

Any questions, or comments please shout and I'll do my

best

to respond.  You may want to introduce yourself to

the

other players...otherwise...game on!

Peace breaks out across Europe as the three way French/Russian/Turkish draw vote passes. Congratulations to Sean, Simon and Mike!
End of game statements are welcomed - how was the game for you?
I'll update the game page this evening and scribble some thoughts of my own about the game this evening as well.
Thanks all
