Give Joe a break... he's a Hobbit!  They can't hold more than one small little knife and a tiny shield. How many centers do you think he can take in one stab?
Silly little Hobbit --- big stabs are for BIG people.

"He was warned of the consequences, I am simply following through with a promise . . . Or am I to allow the stab to work and simply let him take my centers?"

Is there a third option available? Because those two options either don't exist or don't make sense. It was a one-center stab by an isolated unit that gained Joe a total of two builds this winter while you're getting three. So right now you, the second biggest power, are threatening to throw the game to punish a stab that did you no damage made by a power that poses you no threat.

Onlookers watch with bated breath to see who scores the Leprechaun gold, this is the new key to the game.
Reminder I'm buried in templecon prep and operations so spring needs to be next week please.

Whoops... Rogues ordered Daisy-Ella.  This means...

Rogues capture It.  Faeries have no home centers!  Ella is disbanded, NRP.  No change to Faeries "Remove 2".  Rogues get "Build 4".

New map after builds!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled drama...

A solo is impossible on this board if you truly use Diplomacy guys. Trust

There are three significant powers next to the knights. All of us trust each other less than we do the knights I dare say. Hence the practical issue.

I might point out that I've tried to come up with an alliance-against-the-knights for a long time now and nothing came of it... I might have been able to hold on longer if I hadn't been gobbled up by... who was that again... the pirates.

If someone is tired if playing I am sure that they can trade places with the Wizard King and they can enjoy that challenge. The WK would gladly take a power and teach them how to survive (for a bit anyway) when all looks grim.

A solo is impossible on this board if you truly use Diplomacy guys. Trust me if it were possible to solo as the Knights i would have done so in the last Haven game!

Come on! Be ye mice or Pirates? Savvy?

If someone is tired if playing I am sure that they can trade places with the Wizard King and they can enjoy that challenge. The WK would gladly take a power and teach them how to survive (for a bit anyway) when all looks grim.

A solo is impossible on this board if you truly use Diplomacy guys. Trust me if it were possible to solo as the Knights i would have done so in the last Haven game!

Come on! Be ye mice or Pirates? Savvy?

DC394: The Telethon for Throwing the Game to the Knights (dc394) ConradW Jan 31, 01:18 pm
There are three significant powers next to the knights. All of us trust each other less than we do the knights I dare say. Hence the practical issue.

DC394: The Telethon for Throwing the Game to the Knights (dc394) chaosonejoe Jan 31, 02:01 pm
In the history of the game, has any stab (weak, by my own admission) been so melodramatically groused about?

I just want to know if I made history or not.

Hey, I never ever said I was quitting or was interested in having another
play for me, no way! I am dedicated to the game and making certain a stab
on me (by a supposed close ally) will not be rewarded. He was warned of the
consequences, I am simply following through with a promise. And what is
wrong with such a ploy? You stab someone, you better make damned sure it
will not backfire. Or am I to allow the stab to work and simply let him
take my centers? That isn't right either now is it?

All very flattering, but I'm not even sure that I want to award myself the
win (though if put to a vote I'd be hard pressed to be the one NO vote...).
But whoever started this discussion probably made it harder for me to win
outright... Wink
Of course, the reality is that I'm all for teamwork and I just want
everybody to win!

So... guys, sorry to be a wet blanket on "ending the game", but the
Knights are not every HALF way to a solo!! That's what I thought was
the case. And apologies since I don't usually play DC games that I
can never find the country stats page, I'll save this E-Mail!!
But it doesn't look like we're anywhere near done yet....

There are 102 supply centers. 52 to win. See all this, here...

Both the counts and charts will be updated for this turn, when builds are
posted tomorrow.

May I please ask a couple of questions that have been confusing me
over the last game year?

1) Can we get a report, or show me where the report exists, of what
the center counts actually are at the moment? Counting the units and
the builds etc. is quite tedious, so I actually have no idea how to
react to Tom's note.

2) Plus, I thought the de facto standard for "solos" is more than half
the centers. Am I wrong? The Knights are NOWHERE near half the
centers. If so, what IS the center count for a solo?

3) Is this Diplomacy or Tiddlywinks? Just because someone is "tight
with their neighbors", does that mean all bets are off? I recognize
the value in "group negotiation", but lack the context....

Cheers, Wink

dc394 f07 results! - chaosonejoe   (Jan 31, 2012, 12:07 pm)
I would comment, but there's nothing of significance I can add to the reality that one player has 16 centers, needs 52, and cannot win the game outright for what, 6 months real time or a decade in game time?

There are 102 supply centers.  52 to win.  See all this, here...

Both the counts and charts will be updated for this turn, when builds are posted tomorrow.

He has a huge lead, he is tight with those closest to him and the main
opponent in the Pirates (me) was stabbed by the Hobbits, I warned the
Hobbits if he stabbed me and my chances were no longer there, I would
assure him he could not lose by throwing what I have at him AND by handing
centers to the Knights.
No way do I allow a Hobbit stab to give him a chance so the Knights now
have a cake walk, the Hobbits made a very BIG mistake indeed. ...may as
well end it now?

I would comment, but there's nothing of significance I can add to the reality that one player has 16 centers, needs 52, and cannot win the game outright for what, 6 months real time or a decade in game time?

So... guys, sorry to be a wet blanket on "ending the game", but the
Knights are not every HALF way to a solo!! That's what I thought was
the case. And apologies since I don't usually play DC games that I
can never find the country stats page, I'll save this E-Mail!!
But it doesn't look like we're anywhere near done yet....

All very flattering, but I'm not even sure that I want to award myself the
win (though if put to a vote I'd be hard pressed to be the one NO vote...).
But whoever started this discussion probably made it harder for me to win
outright... Wink
Of course, the reality is that I'm all for teamwork and I just want
everybody to win!

dc394 f07 results! (dc394) FuzzyLogic Feb 01, 07:38 am
Whoops... Rogues ordered Daisy-Ella.  This means...

Rogues capture It.  Faeries have no home centers!  Ella is disbanded, NRP.  No change to Faeries "Remove 2".  Rogues get "Build 4".

New map after builds!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled drama...

dc394 s07 retreats! - FuzzyLogic   (Jan 27, 2012, 10:07 am)
Yep it's that time!

Rhode Island?  No way... be nice to visit, but not gonna happen right now... WDC tho is definitely an option.  Anyone wanting to play FTF should come out to Chicago later this year!

BTW... it's 10am - results in 5 hours!

Hmm, time to get our orders in?  Sorry, I've been quite busy on my Dip time getting ready to run the Diplomacy tournament at TempleCon, February 3-5 in Providence, RI (http://www.templecon.org/12), but I gotta get some orders in.  Can I get a bit of slack next week with deadlines, Mr. GM?  Any chance any of you are close enough to here to think about coming??

Also, you've all undoubtedly heard about my "Drive for 330" for WorldDipCon in August in Chicago http://windycityweasels.org/wdc ?  I've only met a handful of you, and I'd love to meet you all there.

Cheers,
Jim-Bob

Hi All,
There has been a death in my family, so I will be off the Net from
Sunday AM through Tuesday AM. The deadline will stick as Monday by 5
PM, but I will accept changes until the time I process the moves ---
which will probably be Tuesday night.
Mike, could we make the next deadline for sometime later in the week
so I have time to Diplom once I return? Much appreciated!
Thanks for understanding!
Michael
