Betreff: Re: DC406: Fall 09 Retreats /// NMR Hi All,
It is an unusual request, but this is the first time I strictly enforced the deadline. In other games, "obvious" retreats are auto-entered -- I don't do that simply because I like to keep the players guessing, for what that's worth.

Anyway, I am open for a vote, but it must be a quick one!
Should Rolf's retreats be allowed?  Yes or No.  You have until 6 AM MST tomorrow morning (Sat 7/2Cool to make your vote.
ONLY A UNANIMOUS YES VOTE will succeed -- missing votes are counted as NO. (Rolf, you don't need to vote Smile)

Rolf, I know it's been a busy time, and I've been pretty lenient with the deadlines when you asked, so in the future, a quick 5 second email saying "really busy -- trying ---" will work as an extension request. I'm not going to hold the game for several days, of course, but a couple hours or a day is not out of the question. I totally understand busy times at work and fighting fires (heck, I live in Colorado. We were the "Burning State" a month ago).

Thanks,
Mike

Hi All,

Perfect games are rare in Baseball, and in Dip.  It took until Fall 09, but we have our first NMR. No word from the Magicians, and so the units are disbanded.  Perhaps he was too busy getting his "Olympics Betting Pool" (my local pub is running one) bets ready. Or, maybe this is just a carefully planned re-organization of troops: the Mags get 2 builds!!

Yes, Olympic Fever is descending upon the world, a time when we cheer on extra-ordinary athletes doing the very best they can, while we sit on sofas with Cheez-it crumbs growing on our stomachs. Not everyone can be an Olympian -- personally, I do my best to prove that I will NEVER be an Olympian, unless "insomnia", "trivia", or "TV Watching" become Olympic-qualifying events.

A special "Huzzah" to the Mike Sims, Ogres with an impressive *6* Builds!!!

And picking up his gift bag on the way out is Michael Penner, Hobbits who put up a valiant fight and in the end sacrificed himself for the betterment of nearly everyone else (at least according to his final orders).  Thanks for Playing, Mike -- we have room on the couch for you!

Hi All,

Thanks,

Mike

I'd like clarification on the hobbit move for undermountain as it appears he attempted to move it to "I sacrificed myself to hold back the W/P" which I believe is an invalid province... However, if I'm not mistaken, the first three letter valid territory in his orders are sacRIFiced indicating an attempted move to Rift Canyon... while I'm all for Hobbits floating in the ocean, I really would not like to see that unit there if at all possible Wink

Great game Penner and thank you for sticking with it for so long.

It has been a while since we processed some moves. Let's not make this drag out any more than it must.
Deadline in just over 24 hours, and I probably WILL PROCESS ON TIME!!!!
Don't take the chance of your units being suspended in disbelief that you forgot to tell them where to go.

DC406: Spring 09 Moves - offdisc   (Jul 16, 2012, 2:12 am)
Ah, delays and delays and delays..... We live in a time of instant gratification, yet we rarely complain when delays occur for non-essential things.Seeing how many complaints I received today for not releasing the moves, Diplomacy must be quite ESSENTIAL in our lives. Smile
Apologies for the lateness -- we were waiting for one set of moves, and then the weekend got away from me. However, I had the time to spare because one of our esteemed colleagues is on vacation!  I promised to grant the extension on the next set of orders which involved them.

Nearly every move succeeded and there was A LOT of movement on this board! A few retreats by two players, none involving the vacation request, so normal one day deadline.

Garry,
Indians are experts at stealth, which is why you never see them. Have you not wondered why we had so many Map failures this go-round, after so many successful runs of Haven? It was not due to GM or player error, the Indians captured the armies involved. I've been trying hard to stay ahead of them, but they are fairly successful at hiding from me as well.

Just out of curiousity, is there any actual "diplomacy" going on any more, or have the draw participants sorted themselves out and are simply grinding through to the finish?

I'm not much interested in games where I have a fair percentage of centers but never receive any substantive press.  I can't imagine anyone else is either?!?

Hi all,
Retreats are in early! Seems that good planning allows for quick decisions. Whether those decisions are right or wrong remains to be determined.
Reminds me a bit of the US holiday we in the States are about to celebrate. The Americans planned well, had a good purpose to fight for. The Brits, on the other hand, didn't take the revolt seriously, thought they were putting down a small revolution, and didn't bring in the big guns until too late. We all know how well THAT strategy worked.

Retreats, Fall 08:
-------------------------
Gnomes: A Newa River - Elephant Graveyard
Ogres: A Cyriss - Moominvalley

Look at this -- for once, everyone still in the game has either a build or a disband; no one is sitting on the sidelines just watching.
Adjustment Deadline is Tuesday, July 3rd. Let's get them in before the holiday, otherwise there'll be *explosions*.

Jeff, from one poli-wonk to another:  How does Roberts justify not allowing Congress to regulate not doing something but allowing them to tax not owning something?
