John Roberts is the chief justice of the supreme court (USA) who just ordered a very contentious ruling that really thread the needle of what is considered constitutional. Thereby angering both Republicans (by upholding the health care law in question) and Democrats (by calling it a tax). If you're a political wonk (like me Wink it's been real fun here for the past week.

And btw - for the record with the original question, this is the most press I've had for this game in weeks.

Just out of curiousity, is there any actual "diplomacy" going on any more, or have the draw participants sorted themselves out and are simply grinding through to the finish?
I'm not much interested in games where I have a fair percentage of centers but never receive any substantive press.  I can't imagine anyone else is either?!?

Hi all,
Retreats are in early! Seems that good planning allows for quick decisions. Whether those decisions are right or wrong remains to be determined.Reminds me a bit of the US holiday we in the States are about to celebrate. The Americans planned well, had a good purpose to fight for. The Brits, on the other hand, didn't take the revolt seriously, thought they were putting down a small revolution, and didn't bring in the big guns until too late. We all know how well THAT strategy worked.

Deadline reminder! - offdisc   (Jul 03, 2012, 11:29 am)
Adjustments  (Builds And Disbands) due today!!!! Several stiill outstanding.

... and when the deadline passed, a great swelling of the oceans and rumbling of the land caused all to run for the safety of their home ports. Unfortunately, some were too far away and were swallowed up whole. During this time, all manufacturing was also put on hold.  Dark Times, Dark Times.

The Brits, on the other hand, didn't take the revolt seriously, thought they were putting down a small revolution, and didn't bring in the big guns until too late. We all know how well THAT strategy worked.

hmm well I dont like single line statements on history, but I must point out that the colonies had a lot of help from the French, (and spanish and dutch) and its very unlikely the revolution would have succeeded without them...from a purely military perspective..in those early years....not to take anything away from my good friends your celebration of what was the birth of the greatest nation the world has ever seen.  I  for one thank God America is here and remains the superpower.

Hi all,Retreats are in early! Seems that good planning allows for quick decisions. The Brits, on the other hand, didn't take the revolt seriously, thought they were putting down a small revolution, and didn't bring in the big guns until too late.

Subject: Re: DC406: Fall 08 Retreats!

Jeff, from one poli-wonk to another:  How does Roberts justify not allowing Congress to regulate not doing something but allowing them to tax not owning something?

I'm still getting some press, and if anyone has any proposals I'm willing to hear them.  I also do my best to reply to evryone, but sometimes you have to wonder if people are just fishing.

Hi all,
Retreats are in early!

Deadlines coming round the calendar quick! Just over 24-hours from now, moves will be processed.
If you've sent me your moves, your orders will be entered and your units (hopefully) will move.
If you have not, then your units will sit around, lazily whiling away the time, while your opponents swoop in and push them away.
