DC129 - Late Fall 1910 Orders - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Its a familiar refrain - one set of late orders for the turn. The player in question has been sent a seperate email - I'll hold off for a couple hours and see if I can adjudicate by morning.

Cheers,

DC129 In Rainbows - Fall 1910 - Motion Picture Sou... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Early version has a second verse:
Beautiful angel
Pulled apart at birth
Limbless and helpless
I can't even recognize you

Hey gang,

Our missing orders filter in and the Fall 1910 turn rolls right along. With it comes continued movement behind the Western lines, but at the front all remains static. No builds required means that we move ahead into Spring 1911 with the deadline set for Wednesday, May 7th (11:59 PM GMT).

We have multiple draw proposals and a couple house rule change suggestions. I will put these on an email tomorrow as am much too tired tonight to do it. However, this being the second year in a row with no change in SC ownership I feel obliged to point out that if one more year passes with no change then the game will be declared a DIAS draw.

Cheers folks!

DC129 - Draw and House Rule Proposals - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya gang,

Here is a raft of proposals for you all to consider. I have numbered them for convenience, starting with the two HR modifications.. Please have your votes to me on these 6 proposals with your Spring 1911 orders. All proposals must be unanimously accepted to pass. Failure to vote will count as a negative vote.

If more than one of the draw proposals passes, the draw that involves the LEAST amount of players will succeed. (i.e. if both proposals 5 and 6 are unanimously accepted, the 4-way draw will be used.)

1. Proposal to amend the house rules mid-game to allow for standing orders

2. Proposal to amend the house rules to allow for NMRs

3. Proposal for a 2-way draw (England and France)

4. Proposal for a 3-way draw (England, Russia and Turkey)

5. Proposal for a 4-way (everyone but Germany)

6. Proposal for a DIAS (Draw including all survivors)

Deadline for Spring 1911 moves and proposal votes will be set for Wednesday, May 7th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

Heya gang,

Please note that Spring 1911 orders are due in just over 18.5 hours. Also I'd like to point out that a grand total of two of y'all have voted on the end-game proposals... Remember that not voting counts as a big 'NO!' - so if you agree with ANY of them then please let me know ASAP.

Thanks!

DC129 In Rainbows - END GAME - The Bends - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Where do we go from here?
The planet is a gunboat in a sea of fear ...

Gentle-folk of In Rainbows - we have an END-GAME Result! I'd like to congratulate Ari, Jake and Kevin for their successful inclusion in the 3-way English/Russian/Turkish draw. Nice work, guys!

And congratulations also to Jerry and Ricardo for their lasting out and surviving the onslaught. My thanks to all the players in this epic battle. =)

As the vote takes place before the Fall 1910 turn, the game will officially end with the Spring 1910 turn. EOG (end-of-game) statements from all of you are greatly encouraged - and I hope to see you all in the next game.

Cheers everyone! Once again, congratulations to our three draw participants and my thanks to all other players in the game.

and it's an E/R/T draw? Why isn't it a 4-way E/F/R/T?

Jerry,

I called it as the players voted. Of all the proposals on the table, the only one to have unanimous consent was the 3-way E/R/T draw. One or more people voted against the 4-way.

dc129 - EOG Statement - Turkey - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Well, I just came into this game so I will look forward to seeing how the game formed into the shape that I found it in.
Thanks to Trout for running the game.

My perspective of the game is that England was the controlling partner in the West and that R/T shared power in the east. I may have had the center count advantage at the end of the game, but the line was formed with Russian might in the north.

Good game Ari and Jake. Jerry, congrats on surviving. I voted for all the draws this time, and would have liked you included, but I'm guessing others wanted you dead.

Look forward to playing against y'all again.

dc129 - EOG Statement - Germany - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
I'm ALIVE!!

I was a replacement in this game and walked into a Germany no one wanted, until I was a convenient way for England to foil Russia, then Russia/Turkey to foil England/France, etc, etc.

As a result, until the end, I got little from anyone and fully expected to get wiped off the map like crumbs off the counter, but since I work cheap, I was kept on, and here at the final tally - I'm alive, which is far better than the last couple of games I was a replacement in.

Thanks Trout for running a smooth game.

Appreciate those of you who have got orders in, but in a shocking surprise we find ourselves short one set yet again. The player in question, and I put you ALL on notice that if, assuming the draw vote fails, I will start replacing players with the next turn. I don't believe there is a player in the game with a grace period remaining to them except for Kaiser Jerry.

The adjudication will be out first thing in the morning, as I assume the orders will be roped in during the wee hours of the evening.

The four-way draw proposal is cast down and stomped on. We dance on with our groovey dance!

With the Fall turn we see the end of two of our minor powers. I'd like to thank Tanel and Jim for playing it out for so long and lasting till the very bitter end. France takes Naples, Turkey takes Venice and Germany doubles their SC count by taking Berlin.

No retreats are required, but all surviving powers gain a build. Deadline for Winter 1908 will be set for Thursday, Apr 3rd (11:59 PM GMT)..

Heya folks. I am truly sorry for the delay this past weekend - entirely your humble GM's fault. I wound up travelling to Toronto and thought I would have time to sit down and churn out the weekend adjudications. Unfortunately, I completely underestimated the sheer excess that I was to experience over the last couple of days... It was a hell of a time - but I'm sure glad to be home.

In any event, both draw proposals meet with resistance and are voted down. However, little changes on the board asides from a Turkish movement into Apulia and a British convoy to Kiel to swap out the fleet in place there. No retreats are required so we'll move directly into Fall 1909 and set orders for Friday, Apr 18th (11:59 PM GMT).

As always, please let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers guys!

Another DIAS (draw including Germany) has been proposed. We'll set the deadline for your yay or nay votes, as well as the Spring 10 orders for Wednesday, Apr 23rd (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers everyone!

dc129 - EOG Statement - Russia - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
What a ride. Thanks to Trout for a well-run game. Loved the Radiohead theme, I'm a bit of a fan myself.

As the game progressed, I wondered how the game might have ended up differently if I hadn't made that misorder in Fall of 1901. For the replacements who didn't get to see it, I forgot that Turkey allowed me into the Black Sea instead of bouncing, so I misordered Sev-Rum instead of Bla-Rum. I was kicking myself for a solid week over that one. One extra build that year to put a fleet on the north coast of St. Pete might have been able to change the early balance of power in Scandinavia. But what happens happens I suppose; I'm glad I was able to salvage a draw, thanks to our original Turkey sticking by our alliance despite my horrid misplay. I hope I made up for it by locking up the northern border at the endgame. Anyway, my thoughts for the individual players...

Austria: Tanel played the game extremely cautiously, but perhaps too much so. I understand that Austria's one of the most difficult countries to succeed in, but the level of paranoia shown was a bit too high for me to be able to deal with, especially when compared to how well Turkey was willing to cooperate. I mean honestly, three arranged bounces in Galacia over the first three turns? That said, Tanel was a solid tactician, so it took quite the effort to finally take him out, and if I'm not mistaken, he didn't have any late orders all game, so I have to give him props for that too.

England: Well Ari, I gotta hand it to you. You stuck by your game plan from day one, come hell or high water. I guess it worked for you, but you probably could've gotten your three-way earlier if you had worked with Turkey and I instead of against us.

France: Alas, poor Ricardo, I barely knew ye. Seriously.

Germany: Jerry played the endgame survivalist masterfully. I wrote him off to the ash heap of history before he even showed up to take over for the deposed Kaiser, but he beat the odds to eke out a survival. Honestly, I voted yes for the five-way as well. As far as I'm concerned, you earned a spot on the draw.

Italy: Well Jim, we didn't really have a chance to work together like I said I'd like to do back in 1901. Circumstances as they were. Maybe next game will prove different.

Turkey: I barely noticed the change when you took over for Tory, Kevin, except for the fact that you were actually talking after 1905. Razz Which I guess was your goal, so kudos. Well done in the southern theatre.

In all, a very enjoyable first game on DipCorp, and I look forward to many more.

Cheers,
Jake
