The word from the wise magic 8-ball for Fall 2001: "Outlook Not So Good"..
Interesting logic as the nations of North America rise from the ashes of Empire and lurch into a running start. A fairly bloodless one at that, as most energy is spent snapping up the neutrals with great success. A minor conflict is witnessed by the coyotes of Chihuahua, baking in the sun, as California and Mexico butt heads. Other than that, everyone seems to be getting along... Weird. =P
No retreats are required from the Fall moves. We'll move into Winter 2001 - and owing to some sort of major holiday that's going on right now, we'll set the deadline for Thursday, December 27th (11:59 PM GMT). Please just let me know if this either doesn't work for you, or if you spot any mistakes in the adjudication.

The groovy seer of the stars, the Magic 8-Ball, when asked about Winter 2001: "My Sources Say No."
However, my sources say yes. Yes to all the build requests. Armies and fleets spring up around the board, and though the distribution seems oddly tilted to the Atlantic coast, the crowds on the Pacific beaches still seem quite large.
Which brings us to our Cuban problem. As Felix's father has just passed, he has been required to withdraw from the game. I'd like to set a tentative Spring 2002 deadline for Thursday, January 3rd (11:59 PM GMT). We already have a line on a possible replacement, so this might be very doable. However, keep in mind that it may get pushed back if necessary to give any replacement time to meet and greet all of you.. =P
And, of course, please don't forget about the Winter Blitz which is still taking on new players. This fast-paced tournament, DC's very own, should blow your socks off. Do yourself a favour and check out the info on the web-page < www.diplomaticcorp.com>

Switching from the lame 8-ball to the magic fortune cookie, for Spring 2002 we find:
Opportunity will soon knock. When it does, answer the door!
With that in mind, we look at the opportunities arising from the Spring 2002 orders. Quebec seeks their fortunes in icy northern waters, California and Texas clash in Colordao with the Heartland casting the deciding vote and Mexico flexes its muscle both north and south. Definitely looks to be an interesting (and bloody) Fall turn. =)
Only one retreat to deal with before moving on to the next season. In the Colorado Rockies, the Texans find it to be a cold thaw as they are dislodged by the Californians. Deadline for the Summer 2002 retreat will be set for Wednesday, January 9th (11:59 GMT.)

Your goofy GM made a slight error and did not use the latest and greatest orders for BC. My apologies to all - the one missed order was a support from Hawaii for California's Baja -> Mid Atlantic Ocean. That support, of course, means that California succeeds into MAO and the Californian army in San Diego moves to Baja.

There were changes to BC's orders on top of the Hawaii support. The Nunavut attack did not happen and Quebec was not dislodged from there.

Indeed. Winter 2002 builds are listed below. A Heartland build was never actually received, thus we NBR and carry on. Andy, hope everything is all right.
Fleets are built in Anchorage, Guadalajera, and Tampa. New boots are placed on the ground in Calgary, and San Diego. And erased from the map are the units in the Arctic Orcean, Gulf of Mexico and New Mexico... Spring 2003 order deadline will be set for Thursday, January 24th (11:59 PM GMT).

Sacred North American Fortune Cookie Reads: You may love the small ones but win the big ones
Blood swirls in the water, mixed with bourbon and bullion. (Don't ask me - I'm making this stuff up as I go along.) But one thing I do know is that I'm definitely having a hard time putting my finger on the currents swirling underneath this one.
The Western Canadian provinces are awash with intrigue as Heartland takes Quebec's aid one turn after stabbing the French. Cuba makes their move on Peru in the south, and Texas abandons southern aspirations to stake a claim in Missouri. Definitely lots of action..
Three retreats resulted - one each to New York, Peru and Heartland. Deadline for Summer 2003 retreats will be set for Saturday, January 26th (11:59 PM GMT). Please give me a holler if you spot any errors.
