DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Spring 2006 - Har... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Andy,

You misfired on the foolproof plan long before those comments were made. But judging from you track record and your own confession, you are in fact (at least in this game) easily manipulated and you have been very sporadic in your gameplay. If it's all the same, BC was in strong agreement over my statements.

I did try to reconcile. I did support you in MIS for several turns. And though you never followed through, I ordered around MON/QUE as I told you and you chose not follow through.

And lastly it was your choice to overlook the advances of BC (which were much more ominous than our earlier tussle) and hop in bed with him.

Choices. Perspective. Hindsight.

.hmmessage P { margin:0px;padding:0px;} body.hmmessage { FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Tahoma;} Guys,

Whilst I admit that I was slightly sporadic in my gameplay in my defence I have never played online diplomacy before, never played a variant of this size before and most of all have never been within 2000 odd miles of the American continent. I may take a few days to reply to emails and did miss a deadline as I have exams to work for in May and coursework due in almost every week.

Rob, your email about my being "easily manipulated" and being a "weak player" annoyed me enough to stop your "Foolproof" plan. NB It didnt need to be foolproof, just Ski-proof.

I have enjoyed this game but resent the accusations of my former "ally" NY.

Cheers
Andy

I was in strong agreement? Of course I was - to you. Once I'd decided to work with Mike and Andy to thwart you, I needed to stay on your good side to get all the information I could.

Ominous BC advances, whoooo scary! The guy with a behemoth just to the south of his home centers is of course the threat to everyone. Not Mexico, who is almost secure in his position. Not Florida, who has more centers than anyone, and a nice corner.

But I do enjoy the propagandizing efforts to portray BC and Cali as the evil alliance. If you keep it up, it might save your skin, if we'll all turn on one another rather than march through the US Northeast.

Our sage cookie of advice has this to say: Life is not a struggle, its a wiggle

Following its logic, Quebec wiggles through into at least one more game-year. Meanwhile New York gains some ground of their own and the tidal charts heave as Florida squares up against the Mexican positions.

One retreat followed the Fall moves - but the New York fleet in Quebec had only Cote-Nord to fall back to so I took the liberty. Rob, if OTB is preferred then please just let me know.

Winter 2006 deadline will be set for Monday, March 24th (11:59 PM GMT). Just let me know if you spot any errors.

Cheers!

Trout

What no official results of the vote? so few voted that the GM forgot there was even a vote on the table?

Shall we summarize which direction the winds are (still) blowing? Nah, we can all see it. Not an army to be found from the prairies to the west coast. Mexican control of the Panama Canal makes the warm waters of the Caribbean more enticing than the growing giant(s) to his north.

Suddenly Mexicos dominance in the pacific has dissipated to the point where the 3 fleets of the Giant can sail a little more south and effectively shut of the Pacific to Mexico.

Oops.

My bad, folks. Most people actually did vote, but your humble GM is so brain-addled this evening that he forgot to mention it.

The BC / California draw was voted down. As is apparent from the adjudication, we roll onwards!!

Cheers!

Hah, and it should (still) be noted that Rob has chosen to cede the North Atlantic to the very “growing giant(s)” he speaks of below, instead of trying to stop them. Yes, Rob, you got NSc. But at what cost. I bet it falls to those giants within 2 years. You had the option to stop them. You chose not to, and so the giants grow on. Will you please stop talking like people should get a clue and stop them, when you are the worst perpetrator of all?

But whine away! Point fingers… it’s clearly not your fault. :-p

I’ll propose the following:

BC/Cali/Mexi/Fla draw

BC/Cali/Mexi draw
BC/Cali/Fla draw
BC/Mexi/Fla draw
Cali/Mexi/Fla draw

BC/Cali draw
BC/Mexi draw
BC/Fla draw
Cali/Mexi draw
Cali/Fla draw
Mexi/Fla draw

BC solo
Cali solo
Mexi solo
Fla solo

NY loss

And last, a move to each contribute $5 so that we can go to the local pet store, buy a dog for New York, and name it Clue… so that he’ll have one.

I vote YES to all 17 proposals.

Quebec.

Sims, you are one funny clown.

Let me recap that I tried to mend fences with HL. I SUPPORTED his ass for several turns. YET he continued to choose to conspire with BC against ME. Thus forcing my hand on the matter.

And for the record. My choice to leave the Atlantic fortified and not the interior was in a final hope that HL would feel more at ease with less of my units around him AND eventually stand and fight. So though you may not see it from my perspective, there was indeed sound thought behind my motives.

I TOO VOTE YES to ALL of those proposals.

I am not begging for people to get a clue. I am just reiterating the entire reason behind my proposal last turn.

Sims, do let me know when you are joining a Vanilla game with some space. I am curious to see how accurate this game is of your overall character. I mean one that preaches such high standards and loyalty as the Sims in this game, surely cannot be associated with the cunning, treacherous and opportunistic Sims that I have heard of. Alas if the two are infact the same, at list I would be privy to you uncanny wit.

BC solo
Cali solo
Mexi solo
Fla solo

NY loss

And last, a move to each contribute $5 so that we can go to the local pet store, buy a dog for New York , and name it Clue… so that he’ll have one.

I vote YES to all 17 proposals.

Quebec.

Yes but when we complete the story, we also recall that NY orchestrated the stab… and you’ve since admitted that you don’t think triples can work, so you entered the alliance knowing you’d stab it (or try your best to arrange where 1 stabs 1 so you can join in on the side of your choice) well in advance of it even being an alliance. You can’t pin this failure on anyone else but yourself.

Well. I guess you CAN. But then I’d reference my previous post about getting a clue.

Oh boy... here we go again... the current state of the game is all my fault... Okay I'll shoulder the blame... just to put and end to this childish bickering...

I can pin my failure on myself.
I think HL can carry his own load and you too.
Cuba was just relentlessly stabbed... hats off to Florida for his timing.
BC and Cali and Mexico have just been fortunate that the rest of our mistakes made their direction and gains so much easier of a choice.

Such is life... now enough of the childish bickering... NY, HL and QC are all to blame for the mess in the NE.

Heya gang,

Boy is my face red on this one. Here, a couple days late, is the Winter 2006 adjudication. The Canadian provinces get emptier as Manitoba and Quebec are yanked. Meanwhile armies are built in Philly and San Diego.

My apologies for missing this the last couple days. I could blame it on my love affair with my new Mac, but really I just screwed up.

In addition, we have proposals for pretty much every end-game result you could think of. Rather than list them all, please just let me know if there are any end-game proposals that you *do* vote for. Deadline for Spring 2007 orders and any end-game votes will be due Tuesday, April 1st (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

No fortune cookie with the Spring turn.. The Cookie Vendor is in a huff because the Oilers lost and are now mathematically eliminated from the Playoffs. *huff*

=P

Surprisingly enough, there was no agreement on ANY of the vast list of endgame proposals. Our Discontent, therefore, must rage on. Which it does, with gusto...

Four retreats required after the smoke clears from Spring - one each from Florida and the Heartlands, and two from the New Yorker. Deadline for Summer 2007 retreats will be set for Thursday, Apr 3rd (11:59 PM GMT).

Please shout out if you spot any errors. Cheers gang!

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2007 - I Wan... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
A smile is your personal welcome mat...

So the question after Fall 2007 is whether or not the Heartland thinks Quebec is smiling at him. The fate of the yellow forces hinges on a Heartland retreat. Of course, the Chicagoan has his own trouble at home as California stakes a claim in the center of the board. While in the south, dark things loom on the horizon as Cuba and Mexico steam north into the Carribean...

Please let me know if you spot any errors. Deadline for Early Winter 2007 will be set for Friday, Apr 11th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!

DC 138 WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT

FALL 2007

BC PRESS:
BC - All: When I look around me, I can't believe what I see
It seems as if this country has lost the will to live!
The economy is lousy, we barely have an army
But we can still stand proudly because BC is really big!

We're the second, (sorta) largest country,
On this freaking board!
And if New York, keeps on shrinking,
Then soon we'll be first! (as long as we keep Quebec...)

Heya folks,

With chagrin, I admit that it appears that I took some liberty with the California moves for Fall 07. Please find attached a corrected Fall 07 map showing the moves from West Texas -> San Antonio and New Mexico -> Oklahoma as ordered by Ray.

Sorry about that folks. Cheers,

DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Early Winter 2007... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
We remain graced with the presence of our French friends, as Heartland retreats OTB rather than into the sole remaining yellow center. (My most sincere apologies to everyone for not getting this out a couple days ago - I was abducted by several large and burly cousins, whisked to Toronto and forced to consume large quantities of Appleton's rum all weekend. Needless to say, it got a little messy...)

Thanks to you all for the patience. The next deadline will be Winter 2007 -for which I actually already have many sets of orders in hand. Deadline will be set for Tuesday, Apr 15th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!
