dc163 Fall 1902 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Fall of 1902 was certainly interesting. In alphabetical order.....

Austria regained Vienna, but is ejected from Budapest and leaves Bulgaria to the Turks.
Britain pushes Germany out of Denmark and assists the French into Holland.
France takes Holland from the Germans with British help.
Germany takes a beating this fall. Two centers lost and none gained.
Italy chases the Turkish fleet back to his homeland.
Russia retakes an undefended Sevastopol and blocks a German assault on Warsaw.
Turkey retakes an undefended Bulgaria, and with Russian help smashes into Budapest, while falling back in the south.

I would say it is shaping up to be a really interesting game. Keep up the great work!

On a technical note. When submitting support orders, please indicate what the supported unit is suppose to be doing. Chris (Austria) has a perfect example this turn. He sent orders for F Greece to Support A Bulgaria, and A Bulgaria to Hold. That would be fine, but I would like to see F Greece to Support A Bulgaria Hold. When it became problematic was when he then sent a change for just A Bulgaria - Serbia. At this point I am left to guess at what his intentions were. His fleet can not support a moving unit. Let us also assume that his fleet was an army. Then would I assume that he wants the support to now be for the moving unit? As it turns out, nothing would have likely changed in the results, but it could be significant. The morale of the story is please complete the end of the support order, and when you send a change order, it is not a bad idea to resend all of the orders. You might catch a mistake. Sorry Chris if you feel like I was picking on you, it was just to show an example. Also if you send orders in early enough and I catch invalid move, I will try to let you know.

We have four retreats this turn. Austria's army in Budapest falls back to its only option of Trieste (unless you want to disband it.) Turkey's fleet falls back to Smyrna (unless you want to disband it.). Germany has two retreats and unfortunately the only option for both is Kiel. This means only one can retreat, the other must disband. In the interest in keeping the game moving along, we with do builds and retreats at the same time. If you feel your builds could vary depending on the outcome of Germany's decision to retreat, you may submit your orders to show what you would like to build in either case and I will take care of it.

So what I need is:

Austria: nothing
Britain: 1 build
France: 1 build
Germany: Your retreat and disband decision, plus another disband of your choice.
Italy: nothing
Russia: nothing
Turkey: 1 build

I have also had a request to speed up the turn cycle to about 5 days instead of a week. I am completely fine with the increased pace (with the exception that I generally do not plan due dates for weekends), so the decision is up to all of you. Please let me know by Friday whether or not you wish to increase the pace. Also let me know if you would be ok with weekend due dates.

Finally....
Build/Retreat/Disband/Pace Orders will be due by 6pm EST on Monday 7 APRIL 2008. I will send out the results sooner if I have them, so get them in.

With great pleasure in assisting you.
Your humble gamemaster

dc163 Winter 1902 Results. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Time is short in my household this week, so no play by play.

RETREATS
Austria:
A Budapest - Trieste
Germany:
disband F Denmark
A Holland - Kiel
Turkey:
F Aegean Sea - Smyrna

BUILDS
England:
Build A London
France:
Build A Marseilles
Germany:
Remove F Baltic Sea
Turkey:

Spring 1903 moves will be due Wednesday 16 APRIL 2008 by 6pm EST. Hopefully by then I can be back on track.

I asked about speeding up the due dates, and other than those who asked about it I haven't heard anything. Does anyone have any thoughts either way?

I have set a normal week due date this time, but that is mainly because I will be away from all computers from Thursday until Sunday. I will be visiting family, and I promised not to check email. lol. (the things you will do for family...lol)

I will reply to moves turned in over that time on Monday. I will send an email to all so you know I am back.

dc163 GM's back - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ok folks,

I am back! I had a wonderful visit with my brother and his wife and two young children. We spent a day on 5th Ave. NYC. Wow, that was fun. We also visited Ellis Island and Liberty Island on another day! Great fun was had by all.

As to the game. Spring 1903 moves will be due Wednesday 16 APRIL 2008 by 6pm EST.

So far I think I have two sets of orders.

dc163 Spring 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Interesting.... I was looking back and forth at Winter 1902 and Spring 1903 and well I lost track of which one I was looking at. Ok... not really.... but the southeast sure didn't change much for all the orders down there! On the other hand, England does a double convoy with French support and hits Germany again! Germany is foiled in all her moves and even pushed back from Kiel.

The only retreat had only one move so I included it in the adjudication. As always, Nancy, if you wish to disband the retreating unit instead just let me know ASAP.

I haven't heard any comments for or against a slightly quicker pace of play, except the one who asked for it. I think we will try it. If any do find that they are having trouble let me know as soon as possible.

Lets make the Fall 1903 moves due Monday 21 APRIL 2008 by 6pm EST.

Austria:
F Greece - Bulgaria(sc) (*Fails*)
A Serbia Supports A Trieste - Budapest
A Trieste - Budapest (*Fails*)
A Vienna Supports A Trieste - Budapest (*Cut*)

England:
A Belgium - Ruhr
F Denmark Supports A London - Kiel
F Helgoland Bight Convoys A London - Kiel

F Yorkshire - Edinburgh

France:
A Burgundy Supports A Belgium - Ruhr
A Gascony - Marseilles
A Holland Supports A London - Kiel
A Marseilles - Piedmont
A Picardy - Paris
F Spain(sc) - Gulf of Lyon

Germany:
A Kiel - Holland (*Dislodged*) Retreats to Berlin

A Prussia - Warsaw (*Bounce*)

Italy:

F Ionian Sea Convoys A Tunis - Albania

Fall 1903 dc163 overdue notice. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Folks, I am as guilty as anyone right now. I haven't stayed on top of my games this last week or so. I would like to get back on track.

Monday was to be the deadline, I believe, for our Fall 1903 orders.

I only have 4 of the 7 sets in right now. I blind copied the three missing orders.

Can we get these orders in ASAP?

dc163 Fall 1903 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
After a long delay... I still have not received orders from two of our players. The due date has long come and gone.

So without moves for Austria and Italy here are the results for the Fall of 1903.

The leaderless Austrian armies are pushed further south.
England finishes the conquest of the lowlands and pushes into Germany.
France invades Italy while losing ground in northwest Europe.
Germany continues to lose ground to the English forces.
Italy forces, confused and scattered, lose a homeland center.
Russian forces remain strong.
Turkey maintains their position.

Winter 1903 builds/removes due Friday 2nd of May by 6pm EST.

I retreated the French unit to the Ruhr (its only option). If you wish to disband it instead, let me know.

I need two builds for England and one for Russia. Germany and Italy needs to order a disband. (Default removes will be: A Prussia and F Aegean Sea).

Make your plans accordingly. If a player gets two NMRs in consecutive season (not to include winter), I will look to replace them, or let them go into Civil Disorder.

Austria and Italy, please let me know if there is some issues.

Austria:
F Greece, no move received
A Serbia, no move received
A Trieste, no move received
A Vienna, no move received (*Disbanded*)

England:
F Denmark Supports A Kiel
F Edinburgh - Norwegian Sea
F Helgoland Bight - Holland
A Kiel Hold
F North Sea Supports F Helgoland Bight - Holland
A Ruhr - Belgium

France:
A Burgundy - Munich (*Fails*)
F Gulf of Lyon Convoys A Marseilles - Tuscany
A Holland Hold (*Dislodged*)
A Marseilles - Tuscany
A Paris - Gascony
A Piedmont - Venice

Germany:
A Berlin - Kiel (*Fails*)
A Munich Supports A Berlin - Kiel (*Cut*)
A Prussia - Warsaw (*Bounce*)

Italy:
F Aegean Sea, no move received
A Albania, no move received
F Ionian Sea, no move received
A Tyrolia, no move received

Russia:
A Bohemia - Vienna
A Galicia Supports A Bohemia - Vienna
F Livonia - Baltic Sea

A Ukraine - Warsaw (*Bounce*)

Turkey:
A Ankara - Smyrna
A Budapest - Trieste (*Fails*)

This is just a friendly reminder.

Spring 1904 moves are due by 6pm EST today!

Remember two consecutive NMRs will result in Civil Disorder (and you are out of the game).

I am missing four of seven sets of orders yet.

Good Luck!

dc163 Spring 1904 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The first half of this year has brought with it most troubling times. It seems that the Italian government has crumbled, with only some resistance fighters still hanging on. The Balkinite Revolution is now also in full bloom, with the former Austrian leaders found strung up and left for the birds.

<<<Game effect. Both Austria and Italy have NMRed twice in a row and their forces are now in Civil Disorder. Their forces will hold and disband if forced to retreat.>>>

As for other news from around Europe. England shifts to the southwest and is forced from Kiel by the persistent German armies. France continues his actions to bring order to the Italian peninsula. Russia drives west into Germany, while Turkey seems to be looking to control the Black Sea.

As a GameMaster and player, I am sad to see when players drop from a game, even if they were left in poor positions (which really wasn't the case this time). In my position I could try to recruit new players to fill the vacancies, but I believe this time Italy is not really viable and Austria would be a long shot. I will put out a request for an Austrian replacement, but should one not be quickly available, I will not hold up our game.

The one English retreat is from Kiel to Ruhr. If you wish to disband instead let me know ASAP.

Our moves for Fall 1904 will be due on Friday 16th of May by 6pm EST. This will allow a short period to recruit a new Austrian.

Austria:
F Greece, no move received
A Serbia, no move received
A Trieste, no move received

England:
A Belgium - Picardy
F Denmark Hold
F Holland - Belgium
A Kiel Supports F Baltic Sea - Berlin (*Dislodged*) Retreats to Ruhr.
F Liverpool - Irish Sea
F London - English Channel
F North Sea - Holland
F Norwegian Sea - North Atlantic Ocean

France:
A Burgundy - Paris
A Gascony Hold
F Gulf of Lyon - Tyrrhenian Sea
A Ruhr - Burgundy
A Tuscany - Rome
A Venice - Apulia

Germany:
A Berlin - Kiel
A Munich Supports A Berlin - Kiel

Italy:

A Tyrolia, no move received

Russia:
F Baltic Sea - Berlin
A Galicia - Bohemia
F Rumania - Black Sea (*Bounce*)

dc163 Fall 1904 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
World Wide Press Reports

The Italian Press is reporting the following.....

<<<<tick-ity-tick-tick- -tick-ity-tick-tick- ......>>>

New Italian leader.

Hamish, father of Chota the cat, has stepped onto the podium to take his
rightful place as glorious leader of Italy.

Singer and star of the stage, Daniella Espresso spoke for the nation
when she said, "what better man to lead Italy to victory than the father
of a cat. This is the leader we need at these times. Just look at his
soft coat!"

WWP reports

The World keeps turning, but what a mess!
Austrian forces under new leadership take supportive roles, and come up wondering where the moves were.
English forces crush a German Army in Kiel.
French forces complete the conquest of the Italian "boot", but Austria shares in the spoils.
Germany is finished! The brave souls of the German Armies were encircled and defeated despite their efforts.
Italy's new leader, Hamish, father of Chota the cat, moves the government in exile to Tunis.
Russia shares in the destruction of the German forces.
Turkey advances into Austria with Russian help.

<<<<tick-ity-tick-tick- -tick-ity-tick-tick- ......>>>

With the closing of 1904 we must bid our farewells to Nancy McKenna (aka Germany). With overwhelming force and nowhere left to run, her remaining two armies were disbanded and her supply centers captured. We thank you Nancy for your time, and we wish you the best. Feel free to sign up for another game (or more). Also please let me know if you would like to remain on the list for emails. (Just to keep an eye on those who beat up on you.)

Winter Builds and Removes will be due by Monday 26th May 8pm EST. (I will be camping this Memorial weekend). If I get a complete sets before then, I will try to adjudicate before I go on Friday.

Let Slip the Dogs of War! dc163 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Greetings to the Stalwart Seven,

I have named this game "Let Slip the Dogs of War!" (I always liked that quote from William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar.) Other than that it has no real significance.

The countries have been assigned, I did the best I could to get you something on your list, but the random starts took out a few choices.

Please include dc163 somewhere in the subject line for any correspondence to me, as it helps me spot it faster (actually my mail program sorts it into a separate folder).

Below is the player list with your country assignments and all of your email addresses. If you have email filters, check them to include these emails. Also if you email dc163(at)diplomaticcorp.com (dc163(at)diplomaticcorp.com) the mail will post to our forum at Diplomaticcorp. That is a great way to taunt your opponents. If you want to send press to me to be published with the next adjudication feel free and that will not have your name attached to it. That is a good way to point out things you don't want others to miss, and yet not take credit for it. For fun try to make it sound like a headline in a newspaper.

So get ready, get set, and lets go play!!!

Spring 1901 moves will be due on Monday 03 MARCH 2008. That will give you a little more time to ask questions of me and diplome with your new allies/enemies.
