Both Ukraine and Byzantium try to retreat to Odessa so both the A and F are removed OTB per the rules. The Ukrainian A in Bul successfully retreats to Macedonia. Thus we move to Winter. We have lots of Winter action!

Burgundy - build 1

Sicily - no change

Eire - build 1

Hungary - build 2

Israel - no change

Poland - disband last unit

Spain - no change

Ukraine - disband 2

Byzantium - build 3

There you go. Should be an interesting 1907! But before that we need our Winter adjustments. Those are due Thursday (the 20th) at 6pm CST. I won't update the website until we have Winter turn out there.

All But Spain See Action (And I Bet He Is Happy Not To)
Ukraine Gets the Bulk of the Action, Some Good and Some Bad

Spain Definitely Lives Another Year (No Chance to Lose Tol in the Fall) But Poland Shall Be Gone

Sicily Advances in the Med But Falls Back in the Boot

Ukraine Takes the Last Hope for Poland and Northern Turkey...

BUT Loses Warsaw and The Black Sea

The Green Wave Slowly Moves Forward

All,

Great action. We are definitely right back on track. We had a lot of action and we need several retreats now:

Israelite F MAL can retreat to ION, PYL, TOB or OTB.

Ukranian A War can retreat to Mus, Mas, Liv or OTB.

Ukranian F WBS can retreat to Yal, Tau, Ode or OTB.

Let's get those retreats in by Tuesday at 6pm CST. From there we will have our Fall deadline be the following Monday at 6pm CST (Monday is the 17th).

All,

I certainly did not want to do this until the adjudication; however, I understand that word of it has been spread a bit so, in the interest of fairness, I am sharing with everyone and giving us a bit of extended time on this turn so that people can change orders accordingly - I want everyone on equal footing.

I regret to inform you that Mikael's health is not good and that means that he must withdraw from the game. Given his position on the board, I am not looking for a replacement. I will simply hold his unit until he is destroyed (as if in CD). Given the circumstances, I will not "abandon" him in the results but rather let him be eliminated. It is ultimately the same affect. I assure you that this is not the result of Mikael's status in the game - I have played with him since joining the site and I have watched him ride out "losses" to the very end in admirable fashion. I wish him the best. Here is a note from Mikael:

"I herby request to be dropped from the game. My life is too hectic, and as a result of working too hard for too long I've fallen ill. If I don't slow down, I will burn myself out. Thus, I'm cutting away everything that I don't have time for...which sadly means this game as well. I'm resigning across all my games right now, and I'll return when my body allows itself to function well enough again. My sincere apologies for this, I'd love to fight tooth and nail here to survive, but I can't muster enough energy to do so.

Feel free to include this when you make the announcment. Not backing down because of cowardize or the position, but because I must put my personal health first."

So that leaves us with a need to possibly change orders; however, I know that a player is away until Saturday (they informed of such in case they needed retreats) so I fear we must postpone our deadline until Sunday. Let's go with the same time 6pm.

I hate to push the game back but I feel like it is the only right thing to do so that EVERYONE understands the situation and orders/schemes accordingly.

Garry

All,

Sorry for the delay to today. I thought I was going to get to this later last night and I had some stuff come up. Sigh. Oh well. We are back now with quite an exciting turn. Lots of interesting movement and lots of twists but little change in the end. We only have one retreat:

Ukraine F Geo can only retreat to Cir or OTB. I retreated it automatically to Cir. John can go OTB and rebuild if desired.

With that auto-retreat, we are straight to Winter. Given the delay by your GM, let's set Winter further back than I originally anticipated. Let's go with a Winter turn of the 30th at 6pm CST and have Spring 1906 be Jan 6th at 6pm CST

Winter adjustments are as follows:

Burgundy Build 1

Israel Build 1

Poland Remove 2

Ukraine Build 1 IF AND ONLY IF F from Geo retreats OTB

Byzantium Build 1

Merry Christmas from the March.

Spain and Poland Manage to Hold On for Another Year

What Alliances Will Dominate Our Midgame? Inquiring Minds Want to Know...

All,

We move to the Fall as there was only one retreat with one option. I moved A Con to Ait. Kevin can choose to go OTB if he wants and I will update everyone. Otherwise let's move to our Fall turn for next Monday the 20th at 6pm CST. We will also manage our Winter turn for next Wednesday the 22nd at 6pm CST. At that point we will break for the holidays. We will probably break through to Jan 3rd unless there is an objection. That will give ample time plot and plan AND enjoy eggnog/cookies.

dc340 DCI 2010 - Fall04 Retreats - garry.bledsoe   (Nov 29, 2010, 10:19 pm)
Brittany retreats to Gascony and Piedmont retreats to Schwyz. We move to Winter for Saturday the 4th at 6pm CST.

Our Winter adjustments are as follows:

Burgundy: Remove 2

Sicily: Remove 1

Eire: Build 2

Hungary: Build 1

Israel: No Change

Poland: Build 1

Spain: No Change

Ukraine: Build 2

Byzantium: Remove 1

Centers Change Hands Like Stocks During the Market Crash

All in All Few Changes It Seems

Burgundy Trades West for East and South Centers But Is a Bit Worse for the Wear

Eire and Hungary Benefit from the Do Si Do

Spain Down To One and One Only But No Casualties of the Game Just Yet

A Lone Byzantian Army Celebrates Thanksgiving

More interesting turns? The center seems to host a lot of intrigue as war at the edges wages on. However, no clear advantage seems to be gained just yet but we do seem to be getting closer to slimming the field.

We do have two retreats before we can move to Winter. Additionally I was asked for a deadline of no earlier than the 3rd for our next turn so let's go with Saturday the 4th for Winter but let's have Fall retreats by Monday the 29th. Those retreats are as follows:

A Brittany can retreat to Picardy, France, Gascony or OTB
A Piedmont can retreat to Tuscany, Schwyz or OTB

From there I will publish our needed adjustments and we will go to Winter the following Saturday.

An official note:

In the Spring turn, Ukraine actually ordered Con-Ana. It did not change the turn's outcome nor the need for the retreat. Thus it was never corrected. However I wanted it to be officially recorded that that was the move and that it was my mistake.

All,

Apologies for being a bit late...today at work was brutal and I didn't have the time that I thought I would have to run the turn before my plans.

A bit of business:

1. I have heard rumors that emails are being forwarded from one player to another (from a third player). Please read my House Rules. This is a] unacceptable and b] not permitted and are grounds for dismissal from the game.  Please stop this immediately. I will avoid preaching here but suffice it to say that I think that this has no place in Diplomacy (as a purist).

2. We have quite a few retreats. Let's get those in by Monday the 15th at 6pm CST.

That should cover us.

Retreats are:

Burgundian A Gda can retreat to Mar, Sil or OTB.

Ha ha! Have your laughs boys! Smile

I would like to point out that the country I "stabbed" in DC345 stabbed me simultaneously the same turn. As I knew he would.

Glad I could lighten up everyone's day with my stupidity. ha. Smile

Well, of course, Kevin.  It just simplifies his life greatly if he follows the same course of action in all his games.  So, keep an eye out on DC 345... if he makes a stab there, you can be certain he'll make the same stab in this game (unless he NMRs).

See Adam, that's the key.  John is flipping sides in all of the games that he's playing.  Sadly, I don't know how he's going to move his fleets north or west in this game... but I have a feeling he'll try instead of continuing his southern assault against me.

- you're so confused that yesterday you attacked your southern ally in DC 345 thinking that you were moving against your southern enemies in DC 340.

How disappointing to find out that my lame joke turned out to be true.

So wait... When I submitted that build to my other dip game that I wanted to build A Mos, I just kind of assumed you'd realize I also wanted A Mus. I know you aren't the GM of the other game, and have no connection to it whatsoever, but I figured all gamemasters are omniscient and thus I would only need to submit one build for Mos/MUs.

Actually, apart from ascribing any blame to Garry, that's pretty close to what happened. I was sure I'd turned my build in... And I had, but to build A MOS in another game. Curses Foiled again!

So the positioning continues but Ukraine misses out...

Sicily builds more fleets to try to dominate the Med

Israel keeps pace

Poland's armies melt into the steppes (except for Mas)

Spain's home city army disappears and the fleet visiting England decides to disband; oddly a new fleet appears in Wessex

Burgundy strengthens its borders with an army and a fleet

It seems that I never got orders from John. Unless you have confirmed orders from me I regret to inform you that you are NBR'd.

Let's set up Spring04 for next Thursday the 11th at 3pm CST. NOTE THE EARLIER TIME. I have plans that night and will be doing the turn early to avoid it being late night.

Good luck.

Garry
