Folks, being a sucker for maps, here's an interesting and different way of looking at our Board. I'm not guaranteeing it's all correct, but hope it is....

We're mixing up eras here... forces from the Middle-East are moving into the Balkans, Russia has subdued the Germans and the Chinese are taking over Vancouver. Let's have the Winter 2001 Builds in by Thursday, June 19th, at 11pm Central (-6 GMT)

[Reply]

DC190 - Winter 2001 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The builds are in and the new map has been made small enough to fit
with the website. Things are starting to look very interesting... I
like having all those fleets out patrolling the seas.

Mexico:
Build A Florida
Build A Arizona

South America:
Build F Rio de Janeiro
Build F Argentina

Russia:
Build F Murmansk (nc)
Build A Minsk

West Africa:
Build F Ouagadougou
Build A Libya

South Africa:
Build A Congo
Build A Nairobi

Persia:
Build F Ankara
Build F Mumbai
Build A Pakistan

China:
Build F Vladivostok
Build F Taiwan
Build A Beijing

I figure this is a perfect time to point out the workings of the
strait rule... just to clarify it.

If, suppose, South America ordered F TON-TAS while Australia moved F
GAB-Chr and Mexico went F FIJ-Auc, the move of South America's fleet
would require permission from one of the two forces occupying either
side of the strait. The rule comes into effect any time a unit ENDS a
season bordering a strait. Also, support can't be given through a
strait that cannot be traversed. And of course, straits are crossable
without a convoy. Clear as mud?

Feel free to ask any questions re: the straits or anything else map related.

Next deadline will be Spring 2002 on Tuesday, June 24th, and I'm
moving the time up to 4:30 Central (10:30 GMT). After that we can bid
Scott good travels and move along after he gets back.

Upcoming Deadlines:
[/u:c40691ae4f]We need to hear about those retreats, but there's no rush. Let's have those in by Tuesday, July 8th, at 22:00 GMT.

The reason there's no rush is because we're hitting a kind of vortex of people being away. In order to give everyone involved a chance to build, we'll have to put the Winter 2002 deadline at Thursday, July 24th, at 22:00 GMT. It's an unfortunate delay, but it IS summer, so it's going to happen.

DC190 - Spring 2003 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Well, it appears we have our first NMR of the game. I don't feel much impetus to find a replacement for this one, though, since I assume the current alliances regarding Europe are somewhat set in stone.

On with the adjudication, then... the Brazilian rebellion in Sydney has been squelched, but for how long? Europe continues to be overrun by the barbarian hordes and Canada is having a little difficulty establishing soveriegnty in the north. The Battle of the Atlantic heats up while the Indian Ocean finds itself teeming with action. Stay tuned for more developments as the game progresses.

We've only got the one retreat to see, so as soon as Andrew gets that to me we can continue on.

The retreat is in and we're ready to get started on the fall. Thanks to Andrew for responding quickly so I can get it in before the weekend.

South America:
Retreat F Sydney - Arafura Sea

It was also pointed out to me that in my adjudication I omitted the fact that Oceania's move from Delhi to Pakistan failed. The map reflects that outcome, so sorry if that caused any confusion.

Moving on then... next deadline, as usual, Thursday, August 7, 2100GMT. Back at it!

Oceania - Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Jakarta, Siam, Manila, Delhi (7 sc's - 6 units = 1 build)

I hope a new map for the retreats won't be necessary... if anyone really needs it, let me know. Other than that, let's have the adjustments due on Tuesday, August 12, 2100GMT.

One quick little thing to notice about the map... there is a South African A N'Djamena that went missing. He'll come out of his sand dune hideaway after the winter.

We have the adjustments and that means we bid the official adieu to Europe. His stars have been taken off the map just to prevent there from being any confusion. The new map features the builds, South Africa's retreat and the much anticipated return of A N'Djamena. I'm really curious to see what ends up happening from here, so let's keep the game moving!

Mexico:
Build F Florida

South America:
Disband A Amazon

Europe:
Disband F Arctic Ocean

Russia:
Build F Murmansk (nc)
Build A Nizhniy-Novgorod

West Africa:
Disband F Rome

South Africa:
Build A Congo

Persia:
Build A Baghdad

China:
Build A Vladivostok

Oceania:
Build F Manila

Next Deadline: Spring 2004 is due on Tuesday, August 19, 21:00 GMT.

The retreats are in:

Mexico:
F Tasman Sea - Auckland

South America:
F Arafura Sea - Philippines Sea

West Africa:
F Atlantic Ocean - Paris (nc)

Now, we've got two people gone for the next week or so, so I think it would be prudent to give ourselves one more delay for the summer and renew our hostilities in September. Deadline for Fall 2004 will be Thursday, September 4th, 2100GMT.

Hey there everyone... sorry about the delay with the map. We were having some network difficulties last night.

The map is attached and I tried differentiating the Chinese, Mexican and Persian horses a bit... see if it helps you tell them apart.

Thanks Michael.
Much better. I especially like the little details: a ponytail (horse-tail?) on the Persian horses and the braided hair for the Chinese.

Hello everyone. This one actually had me referring to my rulebook. But I found what I was looking for and everything's set to go. Unfortunately, I'm about 6 hours away from being able to get started on the map so that'll be around later tonight.

One thing to note... we have our first failure due to strait control. Remember that it's the state of the strait at the END of orders that decides whether it's controlled or not.

We do have three retreat to resolve before moving on to the adjustments.

DC190 - Fall 2005 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hello, everyone... sorry for the wait. I got distracted with one of my other games last night and after staring at that map for a while I was in no shape to adjudicate. So here are the Fall 2005 moves. We've got four retreats to resolve prior to the adjustments and one of the players who needs to retreat is away for a bit with limited access to internet.

A few highlights from this set:
Russia asserts her sovereignty over the eastern short and unites Vladivostok with Moscow.
Mexico realizes its long-held dream of controlling the US... can Canada be far behind?
The battles over the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans rage on and the Indian Ocean heats up.

Note that a few of the units have been tweaked again... a continued effort to differentiate similar colours.

On to the moves:

North America:
F Labrador Sea - Baffin Sea (*fails*)
F Quebec Supports F Labrador Sea - Baffin Sea (*cut*)
A Winnipeg Holds

Per: A Tehran may retreat to Caucasus, Baghdad or OTB
Oce: A Xinjiang may retreat to Delhi or OTB

Next Deadline:
Let's try to have the retreats done by Tuesday, September 30, at 2100GMT. If all four powers send me retreats marked "final" before that, I'll speed it up.

OK, so sorry about the 2 day wait on that. Not like this was a particularly difficult adjudication. Ah well, here they are:

NAm:
A Boston - Ontario

SAm:
F Cape Verde Sea - Rio de Janeiro

Per:
A Tehran - Baghdad

Oce:
A Xinjiang - Delhi

So with that done, here are the updated ownership lists:

NAm: Winnipeg, Ontario, Quebec (3 sc's - 4 units = 1 disband)
Mex: Illinois, Boston, Florida, Texas, California, Cuba, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Perth (9 sc's - 7 units = 2 builds)

Oce: Pakistan, Delhi, Siam, Jakarta, Manila, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland (8 sc's - 8 units = 0 builds)

Next Deadline:
The Winter 2005 adjustments will be due on Tuesday, October 7, 2100 GMT. By then everyone will be back at their regular computers (from what I understand) and we'll continue with our regularly scheduled programming.
