DC229: The Fall 906 season has been adjudicated, and what a season it was. First, let's bid adieu to our eliminated player, Egypt played by Ian Moes. Byzantine v Egypt is an evenly-matched war of attrition, and once Arabia and Axum put some pressure on the Egyptian backlines, it was only a matter of time. Thanks for playing Ian.
This means that - incredibly - Khazaria and Pratihara have survived to play another year, with David (Khazar) managing to grab Pechenega after things looked bleak in the spring. In other news around the map, we had our first breakthrough in years in the Asian naval war, with Sri Vijaya taking the Malabar Sea. Also, there was some action in the German Sea / Atlantic region, with the German fleet in the South German Sea dislodged.
But the big news is the paradigm shift in Asia, with Arabia once again pulling off a spectacular move, this time a stab of Turan, taking two supply centers and positioning himself to take more. With four total gains this year, Matt solidified his position as the clear board leader. Presumably, this also means a respite for the Tang Dynasty, which perhaps has an opportunity to venture outside its turtle shell now.
We have had some player requests for the next two weeks. Nigel (West Frankish) will be away from Mon morning to Fri morning GMT, and has requested that the deadline be extended one more day until Friday. Gregory (Byzantine) will have sporadic internet access from Thu Apr 16th until Sat Apr 25th, and has requested that the deadline on Thu Apr 23rd be pushed back a week. Here is the schedule:
906 Fall Retreat: over the weekend, adjudicate when received (East Frankish, Russian, Samanid)
906 Winter: Mon Apr 13th
907 Spring: Fri Apr 17th
907 Fall: Thu Apr 30th
This is somewhat unfair to Greg in that there will be an extra day of negotiations before the deadline when he doesn't have access, but I think it important to get in one more season this week, so that we do not have 3 weeks until the next deadline. Greg, let me know if this is alright.
Now we have our player roster, following by two press submissions, the adjudications, and the current standings.

DC229: I missed a change from a later set of orders from Arabia. Unfortunately for the Khaganate of Khazaria, this was a fateful order change, since it removed Arabian support for the Khazar army movement to capture Pechenega. The new Arabian support has no practical impact, as A Abkhazia to Balanjar already succeeded. Here are the changed results:
Arabian A Tam S A Abk - Bal
Khazar A Sev - Pec *Bounce*
This means that Khazaria is eliminated from the game. I apologize, in particular to David, for the error.

Tsar Dadon could ill endure
Such reverse. He wept in rage,
Lost his sleep, and for a sage,
An astrologer and seer,
Sent at last in hope and fear

The year is ending, and it only adds to my age;
Spring will come, when I must ride West to the war.
Alas, that the trees in this eastern garden,
Without me, will still bear flowers.
