PREV  Fall 1913 Adjudication:  NEXT

Nobody can bring you peace but yourself.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.
- Francis of Assisi

War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children.
- Jimmy Carter

Well, judging from the effusive quotations about peace, I'd say we have finally reached a draw. Peace is declared. Swords are hammered into ploughshares. People join in a group-sing of "Imagine".

On January 6, Prime Minister Danny Ainge of Celtic Nation joined with his furry counterpart from the Were-Hamsters and the most spectacular, blockbuster representative of Blurbia... and they all held hands and signed a Declaration of Peace. In the background could be heard the dulcet strains of "Kum-Bay-Yah".

Wu Tang and Zonotrichia survive.

And the forgotten nations of yesteryear remain only in our memories -- however, as they are 'forgotten', they don't even live in our memories. Sapienta, Nilleidewsia, and the Democratic Roman Empire were outmuscled in a cold, uncaring, Darwinian struggle for victory.

We are now ready for End of Game Statements. I *strongly* encourage you to write one. All of you. And I'd suggest you do it sooner rather than later, lest time slip away and you never get to it. Also, I will write an EoG, too, but I will let the players go first.

Let us know when your game turned to brilliance or dreck. Let us know who was honorable and who was vile and who was bootless.

Also, let us know whether you thought the Were-Hamsters shoulda/coulda/woulda pulled off the solo. Revisit the game start, and say who you thought had good and weak positions. Also, *please* make suggestions for improvement of the variant. It only gets better by your feedback.

Finally, to jog your memory... From the very first assigning of supply centers...

"Emerging from the foggy, formless shadows of Dystopia, eight nations begin to take form. There are rumors of were-hamsters scurrying about in Siberia. The people flee in terror to the warm beaches of the Western Mediterranean, and what once seemed like wisdom is now known for folly, as panicked nations rush like lemmings to the sea. The only hopes for civilization may lie in the mists of Scandinavia, where remnants of the Free Hembrian army are rumored to still exist...

This is the point at which half of you are permitted to break out into unmanly tears. Your position is cramped; you have no logical directions for growth; and your neighbor is best known for his utter unreliability as an ally (honestly, I can verify this last claim from direct experience playing against about half the players on this board). It's okay to cry."

Also, for kicks and giggles, I've attached the Winter 1900 map.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
