Yay Team Purple!
I played in Penner's first draft of this map and got hammered, so I figured why not get hammered again. Has everyone picked their national songs? I must admit being purple I now cant stop humming "He's a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people-eater..." so that's ours. What's going on here? It looks like I'm attacking - well almost everyone. Go me.

Hey there guys. So, we've got ten players once again. Please welcome Michael Sims as the new Congo. We'll get the Fall 2001 season up and running one more time. Here are your competitors:

Player list for dc287

Ctry : Amazon
Name : Warren Fleming

Ctry : Sahara

Ctry : Quebec

Ctry : Persia

Now, just to make sure everything is clear for everyone, or maybe just as a reminder for those who have forgotten, the white spaces on the map are supply centres. They are currently unowned. Capture them and they will turn your colour... leave them be and someone else will take them.

Next deadline: Fall 2001 orders are due on Friday, January 29, at 1pm CST. Most of you already have orders in, but they are allowed to change between now and Friday, especially considering the regime change in the purple states.

Carry on!

NNIGTFML w1842 builds - Kenshi777   (Jan 27, 2010, 1:11 pm)
My best friend's dad had three of his four sons, a cousin and myself
playing when I was age 11. (Yes, I know that's only six people - the
youngest one would get England and Austria) - we never played the
recommended 6 person rules.

Well, at least I'm not the youngest, though at 23 I'm not that much older.
Irritatingly, I've not managed to get anyone to play me on a real board
(game length...) so I've been playing email-based Diplomacy for the last 7
years. 16 has to be a pretty young start, right?

Guilty as charged - of all my variants, SAS needs the most work. It
was one of my very first stabs at variant design, that rolled off the
press back around 2000-2001.

On the other hand, my masterpiece is recruiting for players right now!
The latest revision of Sengoku (version 6.0, with the DP system) is
on the DC website. (Compare that to SAS, which never made it past
version 1.1)

NNIGTFML w1842 builds - Kenshi777   (Jan 27, 2010, 11:29 am)
Guilty as charged - of all my variants, SAS needs the most work. It
was one of my very first stabs at variant design, that rolled off the
press back around 2000-2001.

On the other hand, my masterpiece is recruiting for players right now!
The latest revision of Sengoku (version 6.0, with the DP system) is
on the DC website. (Compare that to SAS, which never made it past
version 1.1)

Anyway to answer the question yes I have played on a real board, even though
it was only once. In my defense though it was at the World Boardgaming
Championships. I've never played the PC game though--too modern for me (I
still listen to my vinyl)

I've met a few people in college which put them at the same age as me, but
I"m sure a few are still in high school.

Wood blocks, wasn't it rocks in Scott's day? And no board, they'd just hit each other the head with them. And that was Diplomacy - and they liked it!

You should. You are. Even if you ADD the age of my 3 kids, TO my age, I'd still be younger than you.
I believe Bruce Ray is the oldest player in dc, if not the world.

We dont track or ask for birthdate upon signup, tho it might be interesting to. Might be too personal. Also kinda fun to find out what age of ppl you're working w as you get to know them and not have that all disclosed up front.

I dont know how it happened, since I read Army, thought Army, even selected Army on Realpolitik before double-clicking on Rio... yet a fleet popped in there. Typically I'd blame gnomes. But I guess in this game it must be the llamas. Or the possum. Some defenseless or imaginary creature that can't possibly defend itself when I assign it the blame.

Go me.

Carry on!

1648 needs a player for a killer lineup! - FuzzyLogic   (Jan 26, 2010, 9:50 pm)
Hey folks,
Charles has an open spot in his 1648 game – this is a power game, with Hoffman, Nigs, Jorge, Mikael, Dirk, and Aidan all in the same game it’s no wonder the newbies are screaming as they run away. I bet there’s enough stabs in that group to last a newbie a lifetime. So any of you vets interested in a solid lineup? If so, take on the 6-center Swedish position in 1648. Be sure to read the variant info, (http://www.dipwiki.com/?title=1648) as it uses the Diplomacy Points system for bidding for how the neutral armies will order. A complex and likely involved game with some proven players… Any takers? If so pls reply to me and Charles, or everyone if you prefer the attention.
