We move into Fall, due in 1 week – Wednesday 10/17, 2pm Pacific

Will the Tribes of Gaul have pity upon the tattered remnants of the Carthaginian Empire? And what’s so great about Rome anyways… Seems everyone wants to go there these days.

With the end of this 215th year BC, so ends the Punic Wars, as the Tribes of Gaul sneak their rafts ashore in the dark of night aided by their Spanish allies… Perhaps it was one too many moon cake for the beleagured Carthaginian army… for their forces were out of shape and downtrodden… An utter massacre, the woodland tribes wipe away the sweat dripping from their brow as they glance around their victorious battlefield… and they raise their flag upon this new continent… Africa.

Thank you Lee for playing! EGS is welcome and encouraged. You can send to me private while the game is fresh in your mind and I’ll hold till the end, or wait till later. You’ll stay on this distribution list until you request to be taken off.

dc109 f215 BC builds! - To live with indecision... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
It was a sunny day in the Roman countryside... The royal navies were docked in port at Rome ready for battle, and just offshore in the Tyrhennian Sea -- trying to decipher their orders... Support... Army... Umbria... Genua. The captian toiled over his maps and scratched his head trying to make heads or tails... A messager arrived from the general in Umbria... But sir-- the vineyards of Aquelina are being thrashed by the Germanic hordes! The farmlands have been plundered, the livestock slaughtered... we must move now!

Young lad... Our order is Genua. We shall wait for clarification.

3 days later the Gaulish tribes led by Chief Rupertorix himself land in Genua, with not a soul to resist.

The Roman captain could but bow his head, knowing that many would now suffer for his indecisiveness. He looks up sheepishly to the sky in reverance... to see the clouds darken, rolling in from all sides... and a CRAAAACK... Rips thru them across the water... The flash of a thousand lightning bolts lights up the sky for but moments... and the entire fleet at sea is left but a smouldering layer of ash floating atop the waves.

As the clouds part, the captain bows his head once again for he knows he will have much to repent, much to prove.

****************************************************

Rome fails to order a disband and so the Tyrhennian fleet gets the axe... or in this case -- the bolt.

Also disbanded is the Germanic army in Iaz, and 3 new units don their battle gear for Sir Rupertorix of Gaul...

Tribes of Germania: Remove A Iaz
Tribes of Gaul: Build A Bel, F Nar, F His
Rome: *Defaults* Remove F Tys

Spring of 214 BC will be due in 1 week - Friday 10/26, 2pm Pacific!

Rome forsakes his Gods -- and his orders -- and feels the wrath as the islands are the first to go... Island shepherds can be heard wailing into the night… “Jupiter, Apollo, Venus, all the gods of Rome! Thanks for nothing! We're going Christian!” Meanwhile reports from the east indicate Persian armies got their orders crossed when allegedly getting directions from a scarecrow…

dc109 s212 - Death becomes me... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
... seems to be the popular phrase this year as every Roman Admiral sets it as his proverbial ring-tone. Little did they know they were tempting their own fates by repeating what seemed like such a humorous slang... for after years of fighting back the invaders from the lands of the sun, the capitol city has finally fallen to the Egyptians. Poor guys tho after all that work, only Gaul will reap the rewards as the Carthaginian capitol is captured by Sir Rupertorix.

Barring some extreme Egyptian good will, we bid ado to the Romans, Jerry pls submit an EGS to me while it's fresh in your mind and I'll hold it till the end. If you want off the distribution, you have to request so otherwise you'll stay on.

... those darn Germans invented beer already for a round is surely in order as the Germanic hordes manage a build, supported by Gaul.

Scythians are dislodged from Iaz, retreated to Dac automatically.
Gaul is dislodged from TYS, retreated to Cor automatically.

Rome is officially eliminated after 18 seasons as reincarnation attempts fail. Perhaps a few more offerings may have tipped the scales! 5 players remain.

**************************************

Germania: Build 1
Gaul: Build 2

Scythia may build 1 if disbanding Iaz instead.

Builds due Friday 12/7, 2pm Pacific!

* A 4-way Egypt, Gaul, Persia, Scythia draw is proposed, votes will be taken with Spring orders. 5 yes votes required to pass. (If this is passed, Germania is not part of the draw and gets credited w a Survival)

Enjoy,

dc109 f216 BC Results! - An Egyptian Comic in Rome... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
An Egyptian Comic in Rome?
Amon Simbatala Leonida the Fourth [Simba the Great Sphinx] yawned in boredom. Ever since sending Tarsis off to the wilds of the barbarians across the sea to be an Oracle he had been bored and sullen. He missed the wit that that young one had. He knew that it was the lot of the Lion Kings to not get much pleasure out of life but that didn't mean that he had to like it. But today was going to be different - as he read the Mediterranean World News [owned by that foul Gaul Rupert Murdochebury] an article caught his attention. It was about an Egyptian who was captured in a covert raid on Alexandria by Glutius Maximus. Reported to be an Egyptian of exceeding intellect, he apparently had been pressed into service giving performances in front of the mighty Sergeant Jerrius Noncommunicatus.

"Hmm," Simba wondered out loud. "An Egyptian comic? I always thought that we were too busy worshipping this Sun God or that Lord of the Dead to be funny?"

Simba roared out loud, a plan forming in his mind.

Brudha, the young LionTalker who had taken Tarsis' place and was sure to become a great prophet one day, came running when he heard the great Simba roar.

"Oh Great Simba, what is wrong? What ails you?"

Simba grumbled, "We have a son of the Pharaohs that has been pressed into the service of another. This I cannot bear. At once you must instruct the Pharaoh's armies to this strange empire of Rome to rescue him. His name is..."

"Comicus."

6 Months Later...Ionian Sea
The Egyptian sea captain shook his head. A raid on some back-water countryside province that he couldn't even remember the name of? Ipanema? Oh well, it isn't important. But this ferrying business is getting tiresome. Can't I get a real assignment like raiding a town? All of my brothers are off pillaging barbarian towns and I get stuck with ferry duty. I better get to go attack a nice cozy seaside town after this. I hear that Sicilia is nice in the Fall.

The captain merely shook his head. There was nothing for it. For now he had become the personal ferry-man for the Pharaohs elite armies.

"Alright you slags. Let's get going. Time for us to do the Pharaohs bidding." And once again miss the action, he thought. "It's off to Ipanema, or Kilimanjaro, or Aperture or whatever. Set sail."

Today we bid farewell to our newly departed Macedonians. Our prayers will rest with the Greeks and their fearless leader Josh. Except for maybe the young Persian scribe, Atar… unaware of the magnitude of what’s happened here… the deals that were cut with the sheep-defiling Scythians… the monies paid to buy off the Egyptian navy… he picks up a tattered map of the universe, gazes quizzitively and casts it aside… “Camelspit – What did these Greeks know anyways!”… kicking around the scrambled remains of some once-right triangles, he wonders what his nation really stands for. The Oracle said it was time for a change… But this?

And what happened to those offerings! You see what happens to those who don’t make them… Don’t let it happen to you!
