Trouble with RealWorld - BaronVonPWN   (Oct 01, 2020, 10:23 am)
I did a full uninstall and re-install that seemed to fix the issue. Not sure what would have borked it though.

Is it just off your screen? If you moved it to a different screen sometime and now are operating without that screen it might just be off-screen.

A bad variant file will cause it to crash. So you could empty out the variants folder and see if it starts then.

Hi guys,

I've been having some trouble with realworld not launching properly. The program will launch but no window will open up.

I had a similar issue in the past that was fixed by launching it in compatibility mode, but this no longer seems to work.

Anyone experience a similar issue and find a fix?

Not sure what to replace it with, but it is an obsolete thing Wink

How to Change E-mail Address - Zoterik   (May 22, 2020, 1:53 pm)
Flash is not strictly necessary for this site; it just lets you see graphs of players' results and site statistics. When you get the flash popup on your profile page, you can press cancel to ignore it, and then you should see the option to edit your email address right on your profile.

How to Change E-mail Address - Ignorance_Is__Sin   (May 22, 2020, 8:48 am)
Good Day,

As a newbie, I have already managed to mess up my account, and need to change the e-mail address. Neither of the two computers to which I have access runs Flash, given the security concerns around it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can change my e-mail address?

Thank you!

Each game is run by a GM, a live person who administers the game, including being a neutral person who adjudicates each turn (with the help of software).

You submit moves by emailing that person. I think, if I remember correctly, I am likely to be your next GM so you will do so by emailing me. A gamester email for re001 will come out soon.

Also, side note - GM's volunteer their time to run games because of their love for the game so please bear that in mind. The upside - each game gets a positive human touch.

Garry

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome Smile !

Long run is not a problem for me; I've played a more than one year game. My only concern is frequency of play: I can afford 2 weeks (usually open days mon-fri and sometimes sat+sun) for negotiations; retreats can be faster (1-3 days).

I'm too busy for a game now so, would it be possible to join a game as an observer (being CCed of all messages exchanged between players and GM)?

Hey there, welcome! What's up with the Dip Pouch? Their judge is going down? We are all play by email here... Human GM that handles a game for typically around 6 months. GMs can use whatever software they like. Most use Realpolitik, some use JDip, and then a few other rare ones. I've even played in games where GMs ran them by hand, changing the maps manually. Join a game!

Hello DC,

I'm occasionally lurking the forum for a year but never played here, so I'm ~still~ new to DC Wink.

I've played a few Diplomacy games on http://www.Diplomatie-Online.net since the only French DPJudge has collapsed some years ago. Now, it's the turn of the Diplomatic Pouch... I prefer PBeM over play on website.

Even if I do appreciate the classic game, I'm interested in variants, especially, Game of Thrones since I've watched the full series. One day, I'd like to design my own world geopolitical variant based on critical natural resources with an trivial economical system such as Machiavelli.

I was wondering how games are run on DC - media, software etc.) -- I've read the GM guidelines -- and how do people join games.

Hello,
Welcome! I just posted a new re001, so join away...

Hi all,

I just signed up and would like to play a game of Diplomacy via email here. I have never played a full game face to face but know the rules.

Do I understand it correctly that currently there are no standard games I could join? At least under 'open games' there is no game called re001 and I would not like to start playing a variant.

Also, I figure a game by email might take a while - what happens in case I am on holidays and don't have access to the internet for a week?

Thanks!
