Dc159/Dc189 Brain melt down - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Attention Dc159ers and Dc189ers

Apparently I've just been informed I missed my own deadlines last night and didn't send out the adjudications. No excuse really - just a mental blank.

I will try and get both adjudications out as soon as possible.

I believe I am missing moves from both games so if you have not submitted, get them in asap.

Dc159 - 20 hour warning. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dc159 Spring 1906 is due Wednesday 18th at 5pm, Australian EST.

This is your 20 hour warning. As of this warning, I have received NO contact from France at this point so France is still considered to be Abandoned/in CD.

I have NO moves from anyone. YES that's you TROUT and you NICK!

Dc159 Winter 1905 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dc159 Winter 1905

Russia disbands Fleet north sea
Turkey disbands Fleet Greece and Albania.

NDR from France so the only units that stays is Fleet Mars. France is currently declared in CD but if Jake does return, I would like him to keep ordering that one unit but i am not seeking a replacement France at this point.

Dc159 Spring 1906 is due next Wednesday at 5pm, Australian EST.

There is a Turkey-Russia draw proposed. As France is in CD - he automatically votes YES unless I hear from Jake. I will inform all players if i hear from Jake

Yeah I'd agree that Trout has a much better shot at solo, but this is a huge milestone for me in that I'm not first to go for a change! Smile

There were too many inconsistencies in France, a few ill-timed NMRs elsewhere, etc. All that really could be done was sit back and watch the inevitable. I made the mistake early on of moving on Austria [hoping/thinking] that I had Turkish support. Once Austria was crippled that never really materialized and there wasn't really anything I could do. The nature of the flooding pretty much forced Turkey and Russia to continue to move forward and there was really nothing I could do to persuade them to fight one another [because they both needed each other to rush forward to replace sinking centers]. While the flooding was a neat aspect, it further turned the game gunboat style quickly in my opinion.

I appreciate Stephen leading us on this journey. I liked the variant but I honestly think it is one best suited for gunboat...just one man's opinion. That said, don't take it as sour grapes; all congrats to Trout and Nick [at least thus far] for running a masterful strategy and clearly being dominate. Seems a shame for one of them to lose but I put money on a Trout solo.

Dc159 No France - annoyed GM - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear Players of Dc159.

I have received no moves or email communication from France. Needless to say i am annoyed.

As per my house rules, I will seek a replacement in 1901 so I have to 'rest' this game whilst I seek a replacement France. However if i do not get a new France by Thursday of next week (Thursday 13th) i shall be continuing the game without a France but still will actively seek someone.

This also gives our elusive France, Matt, a chance to get moves in or explain his disappearance.

I apologise to all. At the moment your fall 1901 moves are in but are considered fluid (ie you can change them if you want to)

Dc159 - Change of House rules - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear Dc159 players.

It seems the adjudication for fall 1901 is miles away.. i can't wait to see all the moves.. however i am still working on a few map issues (Cyberboard and my luddite tendacies are in sharp clash)

anyway after an incident in another game, I have updated my house rules. The relevant section I have changed is this one (point 7).

GM Automatic Retreats and Disbands:

If any retreating unit(s) have only one option of retreat (and no other units to the same space), I will choose to declare the unit(s) retreated at the time of the spring or fall adjudication. The retreat will stand unless I am notified the player wishes to disband the unit by the retreat deadline (normally 24-48 hours). If any unit has more than one option, the player will need to submit a retreat order for that unit.

Any player who would be eliminated in the winter, does not need to submit final disband orders for their final units.

Just For your information.

Dc159 Deluge Rules Sorted out. - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Good News.

Between myself, an ethusiastic player and Stephen Agar.. i've confirmed that these are the correct years of the creation of SC.

5. New supply centres are formed in the course of the game, after all Winter retreats and adjustments, according to Table 2.

Table 2 - New Supply Centres W 1901: Wal, Ruh, Tyr.
W 1902: Ukr, Ice.
W 1903: Pie.
W 1904: Boh, Sil.
W 1905: Swi.
W 1906: NAf.

When a new s.c. is created it immediately comes under the control of :-

(1) any unit occupying that province
(2) the last country to have a unit in that province
(3) the country within whose boundary the new s.c. lies
(4) if none of the above it is neutral.

Dc159: Specific Deluge Rules - Clarification - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Gentleman

I am clarifying the deluge rules as with the intial set, I sent out a rule for deluge 1 that was update in deluage 2.
The rule in question is number 5. New SC do not start forming until 1902, not 1901.

Here are the correct Deluge rules. Changes in RED.

Deluge Rules.
***********************************************
Deluge Rules.
0. Regular Diplomacy rules apply except when they don't.

1. The game begins in Winter 1900 which is played as a separate season. Players may decide which type of unit to build in their home centres in readiness for Spring 1901. For example, Russia may build F(StP)nc if it wishes.

2. Any army in a coastal province may, instead of being ordered to move or support, be ordered to turn into a fleet. Such a transformation will be successful provided the unit is not dislodged that move.

3. Rising sea levels result in the gradual submergence of provinces according to Table 1 below. Submergences occur every year after any adjustments in Winter. Once submerged, a s.c. is effectively destroyed and may not be used for the following Winters' adjustments.

Table 1 - Submergences W 1901: Lon, Hol, Bel, Gas, Ven, Lvn.
W 1902: Yor, Pic, Apu, Rum, Sev, Fin, Syr, Den, Lpl.
W 1903: Arm, Bre, StP, Par, Tus, Nap, Bud, Kie.
W 1904: Ber, Mos, Mar, Por, Rom, Vie, Bul, Gre, Pru, Ruh, Gal, Ukr, Con.
W 1905: Wal, Cly, Swe, Tri, Alb, War, Ice.
W 1906: Edi, Spa, Tun, Ser, Smy, Sil, Boh.
W 1907: Nwy, Mun, Pie, Tyr, NAf, Bur, Ank.

4. Armies in provinces which submerge are drowned!

5. New supply centres are formed in the course of the game, after all Winter retreats and adjustments, according to Table 2.

Table 2 - New Supply Centres
W 1902: Wal, Ruh, Tyr.

W 1903: Ukr, Ice

W 1904: Pie.

W 1905: Boh, Sil.

W 1906: Swi

W 1907: NAf

When a new s.c. is created it immediately comes under the control of :-

(1) any unit occupying that province
(2) the last country to have a unit in that province
(3) the country within whose boundary the new s.c. lies
(4) if none of the above it is neutral.

6. Iceland is a valid space in this variant and it becomes passable after W 1901. The province of Switzerland becomes passable after W 1904.

7. Players may build units in any vacant supply centre which they control.

8.The winner is the survivor (if any) after W 1908.

9. We will be using the modified Army-Fleet rules. These are :-

A fleet is capable of carrying an army (rather than convoy) to further spaces on the map. The 'boarding' phase happens prior to moves, however the 'disembark' phase happens at the same time as regular moves. If the 'carrying' fleet does not move in that season, it can adds it's support to the disembark. Here are some examples of how this might work.

Example 1
A London Boards Fleet English Channel
F English Channel moves to Mid Atlantic Ocean
A London disembarks in Portugal.

So london moves to portugal with strength of 1. If it bounces out of portugal it will remain on board the fleet in the MAO creating an A/F

Example 2
A Mid Atlantic Ocean disembarks in Portugal
A/F Mid Atlantic Ocean supports A Mid atlantic ocean - portugal

The army on board the A/F would attempt to move to Portugal with support, so a strength of 2.

NB - a combined A/F counts as 2 units.

Example 3
A London Boards Fleet North Sea
F North Sea suppors A london - holland
A London disembarks in Holland.

In this example, the army in London is moving to Holland with a strength of 2. If another country cut the support from the north sea the army would only move to holland with a strength of 1.
