DC173 - Winter Adjudication Imminent - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

First off, my most sincere thank you to all your guys for your patience over the last couple days. I lost contact with the internet over the weekend as I was travelling and it was only re-established this afternoon. My apologies for the delay.

Secondly, I'm happy to report that Paolo is back and in contact. He has requested a three-day extension to get back into the groove of things. I'm a little loathe not to grant it to him, but I've asked him to get a build to us as soon as possible... I will adjudicate as soon as I receive it.

That's where we stand currently. Cheers everyone,

Trout

Heya folks,

All right, unfortunately I have to announce that Paolo has had to take some time away from the computer due to some sudden health issues. I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing him the best. Our travelling player DID get his Winter orders in - but due to Paolo's unexpected absence, and our travellers vacation, I'd like to extend the Winter turn out for a week in any case.

Hope that's okay with everyone. Deadline for Winter 1906 will be reset for Friday, July 25th (11:59 PM GMT).

The breath of the morning
I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air

France fends off Germany in the Fall, while Italy gets a little squashed and we find ourselves wishing Genna all the best. With Austria taking Moscow, the Russian Tsar retreats to exile. My thanks to Genna for playing this one right out to the bitter-sweet end. Hopefully, we'll catch you in the next one where, I'm positive, the tables will be turned.

Just one retreat to cope with - the aforementioned Russian retreat from Moscow. As the unit would be disbanded in the Winter regardless, I took the liberty of removing it OTB. Which opens the way for Winter 1903 orders - deadline will be set for Friday, May 30th (11:59 PM GMT).

DC173 - A New Flapjack Supremo - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi folks,

With regrets, I've had to seek out a replacement for the Italian position in the game. With no response from Chris I had little choice. Please welcome our new Italian Supremo, Flapjack... (Jack McHugh.) His email address is jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com (jwmchughjr(at)gmail.com)

Jacks been good enough to step into the game - as it sits the Thursday (11:59 PM) deadline still stands for Spring 1903 orders. However, pending request from Jack, I may push that back one or two days. Please operate under the principle of getting orders in by Thursday however.

Cheers everyone. Play on!

DC173 OK Computer - Winter 1902 - Paranoid Android - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya 173'ers...

Okay - I have now heard from everyone except for our Italian friend. Chris now has 21 hours to contact me or I will be drafting a new Italian player. I will let everyone know what's what as soon as I figure it out myself. =)

Happily, all adjustments have come in. My thanks to all of you players for getting them to me on time. The game takes an exciting turn as most nations bulk up on their fleets - with Austria being the lone exception. Russia, probably predictably, disbands both units not in centers and leaves the Moscow Garrison intact.

PLEASE NOTE!! Up to now you have all been playing two-season dip - with retreats and/or builds submitted with your Spring and Fall turns. We are switching to Trout's usual fare now however - to five seasons... Summer, Autumn and Winter will be treated as seperate turns.

Spring 1903 deadline will be set for a weeks time - for Thursday, May 22nd (11:59 PM GMT.) Let me know if you spot any errors - and Chris, please drop me a line as soon as you receive this.

Cheers!

Trout

DC173 - Winter 02 and Check-In Deadline Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya folks,

Just sending a gentle nudge that the Winter 1902 deadline is in less than 19.5 hours away. Also - I have not yet heard from a couple of players... Even if you do not have adjustments due, I'd still like you to drop me a line to let me know you're still around please.

I'm assuming that everyone will check in and get their orders in. However, in the awkward case that this does not happen, here is what I will do:

1. In the case of missing orders, as it is a non-major season I will allow the NMRs. Any country failing to turn in their adjustments will either wave their builds or under-go auto-disband accordingly. We will then move into the Spring 1903 turn.

2. I will not slow down the game if players have failed to check in with me by the deadline. However, I will begin to seek out a replacement and the player in question will have until Friday night to get in touch. Failing that, I will rope in a replacement, announce it to the group and the game will proceed.

Since I'm positive everyone will drop me a line, the above two points are moot and for information only.. =P

Cheers everybody!

Hi folks,

As you might have already heard, Hugh has unfortunately decided to step down from the position of GM for DC-173. With regrets, we've accepted his resignation and I will be stepping in to carry the game along. I have re-named the game OK Computer owing to my huge devotion to the Radiohead album of the same title...

I'd like to ask all you players to drop me a quick line just to check in with me. I think we're at the Winter 1902 adjustment phase, so those of you needing to send in builds or disbands can send them to me at the same time. We'll transition smartly through this minor turn and into Spring 1903. =)

Attached you'll find my house rules - somewhat different from Hugh's. Please give them a read-through and let me know if there's anything you find objectionable.

I'd like to set a deadline of Thursday, May 15th (11:59 PM GMT) for everyone to contact me and/or submit their Winter 02 orders. If I receive word from everyone before then however, I will adjudicate earlier.

Concerning order format - please just ensure that the orders are legible and can be understood by a third-grader. (Which somewhat describes my mentality..) Abbreviations that can be confused for more than one province (i.e. NOR or TYR) should be avoided. But my HR's go into this in more detail.

That's it from me. I'll look forward to hearing from you all! Let's get grooving! =P

dc173 Fall results! Winter Builds, Removals due! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
GAME Standard DC0173\Fall/1902
==============================
RETREATS:
Russ N rum to OTDb

BUILDS AND REMOVALS IF RETREATS Ordered To Disband:
Aust Build 2 Units.
Engl Build 1 Unit.
Germ Build 2 Units.
Russ Remove 2 Units.
Turk Build 2 Units.

COMMENTARY AND RESULTS
======================
Game DC0173 WINTER 1902 Deadline is Tuesday May 13 at 2400 hours!

WARNING:
If you convoy an army from one adjacent area to another
without the [*] order it will not go without GM intervention.

(2) Abbreviations and Typographical Errors
Abbreviations as stated in the 2000 Rule book are preferred,
any abbreviations that are not ambiguous, in the sole
opinion of the GM, are acceptable. A typographical error
in an order that is nonetheless understandable by the GM
will not cause the GM to rule an order ambiguous. A
typographical error that results in an order containing
either an abbreviation or the fully spelled out name of
another province shall be adjudicated as an order pertaining to the
province correctly abbreviated or spelled out.

I did not like having to let A Pie-Bel stand because I believe
France wanted A pic-bel. But one must follow the rules in case
next time this error is intentional.

Remember to put the game number somewhere in the emails subject
line.
You can also find the games results on my web site.

As the game progress the Deadlines will be 5 to 7 days, give or
take a day. If Anticipated retreats are not sent in with your
moves then the computers auto retreats will be used. The
adjudications will be [Spring/Summer_Retreats], [Fall/Winter_Retreats],
[Winter_Removals/Builds].

If you have any questions about the Rules, how to send in moves
etc. get in touch. After 1902 Winter I will not attemp to
replace a NMR player, instead my Madman rules will kick in, at
that time I will explain how they work.

Do not wait till deadline to send in moves, get in prelims!
Lets hope I never have to have a Madman turn but if it happens everyone will
be shown how it works. Basically you mortgage one of your units
to move a NMR unit. If you have A Kiel-Ber sent in you can risk
that move with this order CD A KIEL for A Mos-StP. If this is a
winning bid then your army Kiel is ordered to HOLD.

Heya guys,

Turkey does a good job of spoking Austria's wheels in the Med, but is over-whelmed north of the Black Sea. England gains a little payback in Moscow however... Meanwhile, Germany takes a trip to the Eiffel Tower.

There were three retreats - two Turkish and one French. However, all three only had one option other than OTB so I took the liberty. If OTB is preferred though guys, please just let me know. We'll set the deadline for Winter 1904 adjustments to be due on Sunday, June 15th (11:59 PM GMT).

Just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!
