DC201 (Viking) - Winter 955 adjustments - bielf11   (Oct 14, 2008, 7:16 pm)
Winter 955 has show a large buildup of troops around the Mediterranean. Tension in the area has quadrupled.
The Arabs have left the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula and the Danes are no longer an independent power.

Some wonder how it can be that civilization has changed so much in only 5 years.
Others see it as evolution, or natural selection; an improvement.

Adjustments:
----------------------------
ArabCaliphates:
Remove A Burgos
Remove F Asturias

Burgundy:
Build F Marseilles
Build A Verdun
Build A Genova
Build A Roma

Danmark:
Remove A Jylland
Remove F Oerne

EasternRomanEmpire:
Build F Napoli
Build F Syracuse
Build A Venezia
Build A Spalato

Sverige:
Build A Uppsala

Maps etc are included.
Next is Spring 956. Deadline for orders is Monday Oct 20 at 23:00 GMT.

Autumn 955:
The Romans retreat to Paristria and the Burgundians disband their army in Maine.

Winter 955 lies ahead.
Big shocker (definitely to me) is that the Danes, although they managed to avoid a genocide, have no SCs left and have to disband all of their remaining units.
Thus another ruler has come to an early end. *** Jackson / Kai : thanks for playing Viking. ***
Who's going next? The Arabs surely stand a good chance after their large number of NMRs from Fall 955.

DC201 - Fall 955 Adjudication - bielf11   (Oct 09, 2008, 9:06 pm)
Fall 955:
possible with the worst timing ever, the Arabs have not ordered the majority of their units. What could have gone wrong?
Not sure what had been agreed with Burgundy, who ordered two of its units to support the Arabs from Toulouse into Nantes, only to find no one present at its borders.
A bit of a solace for the Burgundians is the taking of Tunis and Sevilla from the Arabs.
It is however not success everywhere for the Burgundians: the Norse have forced their way into Maine. But also for the Norse not everything goes as planned, or does it? They had asked their Fleet commander in the Mid Atlantic Ocean to assist the Arab fleet in Asturia to move to Lisboa but, due the chaos of the Arabs NMR, ended up going back early; the Slavs from Hamburg stood ready to support the Swedes in Brandenburg but found that they we're busy attacking its neighbor in Hessen.
The Slavs saw their nightmare come true in Praha and decided not to leave anything of value behind for the attacking Romans: fires light up the night skies. And with nowhere left to go the Slav army scattered; meanwhile the ongoing war over the Khazar Empire between the Slavs and the Romans finally came to an end with an overwhelming defeat of the Slavic river fleet. The Romans in turn had to give up Cumaniya to the Slavs.
The Swedes are trying their luck expanding into mid-Europe with the taking of Pommern, Jomsburg, Breslau and Prussia.
But the best news is probably for the Danes who managed to move to Jylland so they will be still around in 956.
Overall, remarkable how few orders were not successful this season.

Retreats are due for the Romans and the Burgundians. See below.

thanks...i have access to realpotik but i find it isn't very useful as it slows my work machine to a crawl....

I have attached a spreadsheet with the complete list of all regions on the Viking map.
They have been listed by initial assignment, and where there was none it will indicate Unassigned SC or Non-SC, or water.
Any of the initially assigned regions is a SC; and thus can be used for Builds. Or Scorched Earth Sad
Hope this helps any player without access to RealPolitik or struggling decyphering the new map.
