Hallo zusammen,

let me start with the first order of business: All draw proposals failed.

I'm glad we're on track. In recent days I've had a friendly and
enlightening conversation with Mike Sims and Mike Hoffman about various aspects
of house rules and GMing policy. While not too long after having started this
game I recognised that my policy on NMRs was too strict, I was reluctant to
change it mid-stream since players had signed up having considered the house
rules I had at that point provided. Mike Sims' view however that a GM ought
not have scruples about unilaterally altering his GMing policy during
a game and I've now warmed to that idea. While I don't think one ought to
alter a policy once an acute issue arises (as was the case last Friday),
freed of a particular case being at hand:

I'm now according each player two
six-hour grace periods for the remainder of the game that may be made use
of if a deadline's missed.

This actually is how I handle things in my 1936 game I'm
running. While I do want to avoid NMRs as I consider them a bane of the
game (especially playtests) rather than a legitimate part of the game (here
Mike Sims and I differ), a more lenient standard serves both the players and the
game better. Not like I felt happy about replacing a generally very
reliable player.

As I gain more experience in running games, my thinking on how to
do stuff and how best to avoid certain pitfalls evolves. Live and learn.
Okay, 'nuff of this GM-navel-gazing...

Note the below French press. If ole Henri IV once said that "Paris was
worth a mass", his present successor plainly seems to be of the opinion that
"Aachen's worth getting rid of mass!" A Protestant on the French and Imperial
thrones? Hell has officially frozen over... No wonder the Holy Inquisition's
confused...

The Spring 1660 Moves due Monday, 14 June 6 PM
CET. So prelims please on Saturday. I trust that the shift back to a
Monday/Wednesday routine works for you all. If not, let me know.

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles
