Close, but not quite. The peaceful Elians heard through their excellent
information network that the Messenians were planning an outrageous surprise
attack, contrary to all the rules of law. Only after recieving that
information did they regretfully decide that a counter action was required.
Mike of course can't release when the change in orders came through, but if
he could he would be able to confirm the point.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. The Messenians are no more pillaging
Elian lands, than those deceitful Elians are burning our homes! He tipped
his hand, and so my people made a correct defensive adjustment to our
plans. Net gain zero. Maybe he will reconsider his adventures now.
