DC 211: S1903 Seismics - Tirerndil   (Nov 17, 2008, 11:04 am)
All seismics succeed. "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!"

On Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:49 AM, Adam Martin-Schwarze <smegdwarf(at)yahoo.com (smegdwarf(at)yahoo.com)> wrote:

In honor of our bass in the Messiah...

"Thus saith the Lord of Hosts, 'Yet once, a little while and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; and I will shake all nations.'"

Whereas, were I a first tenor who had sung the Messiah five times (oh, wait...), I might prefer to quote:

"Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill made low, the crooked straight, and the rough places plain."

But, be ye bass or tenor, let us shake the face of Europe. All seismics succeed. Helgoland is augmented. The North Sea is diminished.

The F1903 deadline will be this upcoming Friday (Nov. 21) at the usual time (1000 CST). I will be away on Wednesday and Thursday.

A couple of curiosities:
Finland becomes the Portugal of the North (2 boundaries)
Munich has five neighbors (plus Switzerland) – each is occupied by a different power.

Austria:
Split Mars / Tyl and join Switz / GoL

England:
Split Finland/Norway - Join Sweden/St Petersburg

France:
Boh and Mun separate, Ber and Tyl connect

Germany:
Split HOL and NTH; Connect Hel and English Channel

Italy:
Aeg/Eas Disconnect Ion/Smy Connect

Russia:
split den and nth, connect ska and hel

Turkey:
Seperate Ven and Tus; Connect Rom and Pie

DC 211: Deadline Reminder - AceRimmer   (Nov 16, 2008, 8:20 am)
Seismic orders due tomorrow at 1000 CST. Odds are very good you haven't sent me one yet. Remember, if you're looking at the map, there's an invisible German army in Ruhr and an invisible Turkish fleet in Apulia.

Turkey retreats F Ionian Sea - Apulia
Germany retreats A Munich - Ruhr

I don't have the software at home to update the map, so you'll just have to contemplate your S1903 Seismic orders while imagining a German army in Ruhr and a Turkish Fleet in Apulia.

Deadline: Monday at 1000 CST.

You can see their fluffy white tails in retreat. Guile and Mark, please submit retreat orders as soon as you can. I would like to announce retreats today or tomorrow at the latest, setting us up for S1903Seismic on Monday at 1000 CST. Huh... how about that... TAB+space = Send in Yahoo mail...

Anyway, in reply to Mr. Lytton's:
"So what you are telling me is something you have never seen is slightly less blue than you have never seen." (Edmund Blackadder)

The more relevant concern of the moment is:
Edmund: "Percy, I don't want to be pedantic or anything, but the color of gold is gold -- that's why it's called gold. What you have discovered, if it has a name, is some green."

Percy: "Oh, Edmund, can it be true? That I hold here, in my mortal hand, a nugget of purest green?"

I think that's a reference to you, Italy.

Everybody wants to go to Holland, but only one unit punches the winning ticket. Only seven units move. Another one is dislodged. One SC changes hands, and the last neutral is claimed. Game on, bro!

In more important news, Barack Obama is the president-elect, and I am very happy. Looking at the state of disorder in my country, I don't know why he wanted the job, but here's hoping he gets the necessary support and has the presence of mind to work in non-partisanship. Mostly, though, it restores some of my battered confidence in the judgment of the American people.

Italian A Tyl can retreat to Bohemia, Venice, or disband

The retreat order for F1902 is due asap (technically by Thursday at 1000 CST).
Seismic orders for F1902 will be due on Friday, November 7 at 1000 CST.
If you're looking ahead, Winter adjustments (for France, Germany, and Russia) will be on Monday. Of course, seismic disturbances can cause more builds, as we have already seen.

DC 211: S1902Seismic - AceRimmer   (Oct 29, 2008, 8:56 pm)
Well, as usual, I don't have my whole act together. It turns out there was not one, but TWO misorders... makes me wonder about this whole let-them-fly-on-their-own policy I'm implementing. But all of that's straightened out now. Seven solid orders received. All successful. Two isthmuses (isthmi?) created. One strait, one canal. Curiously, two S1901 seismic orders were reversed.

I emailed myself the adjudication and the adjusted map... except I emailed the wrong map, so... Here's the adjudication. I'll send the map in the morning.

Austria:
Split Tun / Eme; Join Ion / edge

England:
Please split Hel/Bal and join Den/Kiel (create strait)

France:
Wmed and MAO separate, Spa and NAf connect
Put a canal in Spa only (so that NAf has multiple coasts
but Spain's current south coast is not split into two coasts)

Germany:
Bur and Ruh Separate; Mun and Hol connect

Italy:

DC 211: Spring 1902 Adjudication - AceRimmer   (Oct 27, 2008, 10:40 am)
Curious season... No retreats. I've seen that before. But no cut supports? Interesting.

Well, now it's time to reshape the world. I'll make the deadline Wednesday at 1000 CST. Please submit one seismic order each by then.

The F1902 deadline will not be until Wednesday, November 5 at 1000 CST (there will be a player traveling through the 4th, and I am not available on the 6th, so it's either the 5th or the 7th; I'll announce if the date gets changed to the 7th).

This is the 36 hour warning (the only warning you'll get) before the Spring 1902 deadline. I have five sets of orders and am awaiting two more.

DC 211: W1901 Correction - AceRimmer   (Oct 21, 2008, 10:53 am)
I'm only surprised that it took me until W1901 to make an error...

England builds ARMY Lon, not FLEET Lon.

Corrected map attached.

DC 211: F1901S - AceRimmer   (Oct 20, 2008, 12:01 pm)
Well, no isthmus shenanigans, but Austria did invoke the beached fleet rule. Berlin expands, Silesia shrinks, and y'all are trying to make it difficult for me to draw Picardy. All orders succeed. Good going.

Winter 1901 orders are due tomorrow (Tuesday, October 21) at 1000 CST (1500 GMT).

Austria:
Split Tri/Adr; join Alb/Ven
*Beached Fleet is disbanded

England:
split Brest/English Channel - Join Mid-At/Picardy

France:

Germany:
Mun and Sil separate; Ber and Boh connect

Italy:
GoL/Wes disconnect Spa/Tys connect

Russia:
Separate Prussia and Sil; Connect Berlin and Warsaw

Turkey:
sev and Arm separate; Black sea and board connect

SC Builds
Austria 5 3
England 5 2
France 6 3
Germany 3 0
Italy 4 1
Russia 6 2
Turkey 4 1
