DC176 - Fall 1905 - Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Fall 1905: units are bouncing all around Europe.
Had this been Mexico, everyone would be blaming those kidney beans.
Well, I shouldn't be joking. This is really serious and deserves our attention: so many battles fought and so few winners.
Result is largely a stand-off.
Were all these efforts in vain? Perhaps there is there a lesson to be learned?

These are the orders for Fall 1905:

Austria:
A Galicia - Rumania
F Greece - Bulgaria(sc) (*Bounce*)
A Serbia - Bulgaria (*Bounce*)
A Trieste - Tyrolia
A Ukraine - Sevastopol (*Bounce*)
A Venice - Rome (*Fails*)

England:
A Edinburgh - Holland (*Bounce*)
F English Channel - London
F Irish Sea - English Channel (*Fails*)
F Kiel Supports A Edinburgh - Holland (*Cut*)
A Liverpool, no move received
F North Sea Convoys A Edinburgh - Holland
F Norway - St Petersburg(nc)

France:
F Barents Sea - Norway
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - English Channel
A Ruhr - Holland (*Bounce*)
F Spain(sc) - Mid-Atlantic Ocean
F Wales Supports F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - English Channel

Germany:
A Berlin Supports F Kiel (*Cut*)
A Bohemia - Vienna
A Paris Hold

Italy:
F Aegean Sea - Greece (*Fails*)
A Albania - Serbia (*Fails*)
F Black Sea - Ankara
F Ionian Sea - Adriatic Sea
A Rome - Venice (*Fails*)
A Smyrna Hold

Russia:
A Armenia - Sevastopol (*Bounce*)
F Belgium - Holland (*Bounce*)
A Munich - Kiel (*Fails*)
A Silesia - Berlin (*Fails*)
A Warsaw - Prussia

Winter 1905 Adjustments:
only one Power has managed to expand its territory and the lucky one is... Austria.
No disbands required.
Winter 1905 will be adjudicated on Tuesday June 24, 23.00 GMT or as soon as it is received marked as Final.

Deadline for Spring 1906 orders will be this Friday Jun 27, 23.00 GMT.
Send in those prelim's!

Oh, my dear Kaiser.... And here I thought that you wouldn't stab me since you wouldn't be able to use the extra build whereas I could have built a thirsty buncha fellas to go questing for some Russian vodka...

*sigh*

Lets raise a glass to missed opportunities...

German troops in Berlin were squashed by Russian troops and had nowhere to go.
Meanwhile in the Mediterranean, Austria and Italy seem to be so keen on conquering eachother's Home SCs that both may succeed.
France is giving England a hard time to regain its land but England succeeded this time to land its troops in Holland.
Russia is moving further West except for one unit in Armenia; supply-line nightmares?

No retreat orders received from England. Sorry David, but since these were due 24 hours ago, I have recorded a NMR.
A NMT for a dislodged unit means it is disbanded.

Summer adjudication:
England: F Irish Sea disbanded
Austria: A Triest - retreats to Serbia

Fall 1906 deadline is Tuesday, Jul 1, 23.00 GMT.
Send in your orders asap. I may be able to squeeze in Autumn before I leave...

What an interesting battlefield Europe has become in 1906:a look at the map shows a NW - SE corridor of war with a rather peaceful NE and SW. All these close-combat situations and strategically clever moves have caused several countries to change Powers quite unexpectedly. And half of the remaining Powers have retreats this Autumn: Russia, Germany, and England.
And has Italy just been backstabbed by Russia or is it only an inconvenient misunderstanding? I bet it is for Italy!

Just wondering: did you post this to the DC forum on purpose?
Don't think it will change GER retreat but perhaps ENG could be inspired for its KIE retreat?

DC176 - Winter 1906 Adjudication - CORRECTION - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Was a bit premature with the previous message.
I had not received a retreat from Germany (NMR) and thus is its unit surprisingly disbanded.
That means Germany has one instead of 2 SCs and just one unit left. Tough on Germany, but Austria benefits.
The rest stays the same.
--------------
What genius mind is advising the Russian Tzar?
Despite the odds, Russia managed to expand its empire.
It is almost as if someone pleased the gods, changed fate, and inspired the people.
Some say "it is the Mad Monk", others even whisper a name: "Rasputin".
Is is true, then?...

Germany is now the ruling Power of - odd but true - Marseille. Will it ever be able to return to its Heimat to grow again?
England has grown so fast, and perhaps unexpectedly, that is can only build one unit where two were within its reach. Some have called for the Lord High Admiral to step down as a result.

Winter adjustments:
Austria: Supp 7 Unit 7 Build 0
England: Supp 8 Unit 6 Build 1
France: Supp 5 Unit 5 Build 0
Germany: Supp 1 Unit 1 Build 0
Italy: Supp 6 Unit 6 Build 0
Russia: Supp 7 Unit 4 Build 3

Winter adjustments are due by July 20, 23:00 GMT because I will be traveling for the next 2 weeks.
Access to the Internet will be infrequent.
If I get all Final orders in before I may adjudicate earlier if time and location permits.

Finally, after 2 weeks, DC176 can continue with the Winter 06 builds.
Only 2 powers were entitled to builds: Russia and England.
* Russia builds an army in Moscow and Warsaw, and a fleet in Sevastopol.
* England builds a fleet in Edinburgh.

Deadline for Spring 07 is Thursday, 7/24, 23.00 GMT.
And I already have one set of orders in! Prelims are welcome at any time.

DC176 - Spring 1907 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Spring 1907 has a big surprise: no orders from Austria.
But there is even a bigger surprise: despite its NMR Austria doesn't loose any ground in any of the attacks it's under.
How? Because of Russian troops cutting the support for the Italian attack on Bulgaria. Twice!
Another important event is the bold move of the last German unit. It has ensured Germany of a life beyond 1907.

Resulting moves are as follows:

Austria:
no moves received

England:
F Belgium - English Channel (*Fails*)
F Denmark - Sweden
F Edinburgh Supports F London - North Sea
A Holland - Ruhr (*Fails*)
A Liverpool Hold
F London - North Sea
F St Petersburg(nc) - Barents Sea

DC176 - Fall 1907 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
With a new Italy, things are back to the way they were.
Well, not for everyone. Or actually, mostly for none.
Only Germany managed to get its unit back to where it was a year ago. And it is still around.
Together with France they are the only ones that see all of their orders succeed.
Austria is a close second as it failed to take Rome. Which stopped the Italians from taking Apulia.
Talking about the Italians: they and Russia are fighting over prime locations in Turkey and the Black Sea. Italy played it clever and successfully defended 3 locations with its 2 units.
I bet the Mad Monk at the Russian Court will be mad with anger after hearing this.
But worst hit is England. Two orders succeed but at a terrible price: London has to retreat from Belgium and Liverpool. Through the support from the Russians, the French were able to undermine all English attacks that would have prevented their demise otherwise. Is this the price England pays for invading St Petersburg earlier? And we all remember wha happened to Germany after it had to leave St Petersburg, don't we?
Good luck to you all.

Orders for Fall 07:

Austria:
A Apulia - Rome (*Fails*)

DC176 - Autumn 1907 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
England has ordered its fleet to retreat from Belgium to the North Sea and its army from Liverpool to Wales.
And this brings Winter 1907.

Seven years already into the wars paralyzing the economy in Europe (aside from some related industries) and only the ruler of Turkey was ousted.
Germany is still surviving at its favorite Winter retreat in Marseille at the Mediterranean. The other Powers gain and loose some but seem to keep eachother in balance.
What a beautiful display (if you just forget for a moment about those 1000s of victims).

Following builds/disbands are due:
Austria: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1
England: Supp 5 Unit 7 Remove 2
France: Supp 7 Unit 5 Build 2
Italy: Supp 5 Unit 6 Remove 1
Russia: Supp 8 Unit 7 Build 1

Deadline is Wednesday Aug 6, at 23:00 GMT.

DC176 - Spring 1908 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Spring 1908 in a nutshell:
Italy gets hammered by Austria; France attack on English soil increase while English troops are hurrying back home for support;

DC176 - Fall 1908 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
1908 has seen a lot of changes in the balance of Powers in Europe.
Germany who so bravely withstood any attempt to conquer it, no longer was capable to provide any orders to its army in Marseille.
Well, even if it had, it wouldn't have much of a difference. After Winter 1908 its army would have fallen for lack of a SC.
Italy is closing in on the Russians in Turkey.
Russia seems to have a deal with France as it supports France into Sweden; a similar order for Holland fails as France has ordered its fleet to hold in Belgium.
England tried to regain its home SC but the French manage to hold on to it. This, and the loss of Sweden, seems to be a major setback for England.
But then Austria: once a small power caught between powers, now grown into a major power with a strong grip on the Balkans, managed to drive the Italians from their beloved capital Rome.

Austria:
A Apulia - Rome
A Budapest Supports A Rumania
A Bulgaria Supports A Rumania

DC176 - Winter 1908 Adjudication - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Winter 1907: I mentioned that the Powers in Europe were still in balance.
Winter 1908: only one year later and we see a very different world.

Austria has become a Power that is impossible to ignore (no need to thank me for emphasizing this, Trout).
France, closely following Austria, has grown more steadily over the past years.
Russia's expansion has come to a stop and is no doubt wondering whether this signifies its top.
Italy is showing a downward trend: one unit lost each year since Winter 1906. The inheritance of the previous ruler?
England, once with 8 units controlling Europe, has gone through a terrible year and now has only 3 units at its command.

Ain't it nice, all these numbers?
But what good does it do, as the balance might change again any moment.

Below are the builds for Winter 1908.

Start of Spring 1909:
Turkey out; Germany out. Will the survivors come to a peaceful solution?
Nah, extremely unlikely.
Who's next to loose command?
Deadline for 1909 Spring orders is Tuesday, Aug 19 at 23:00 GMT.
