Hi Everyone,
Thanks to all seven players for getting prelims in before this first
adjudication! We're off to an excellent start!
I have two points I want to make/clarify about the game before the
first adjudication happens next week...
First, the first time I played with this basic map (a 1926 variant) I
played as Britain and so misunderstood the rules for sailing around
Africa that I traded away my Middle East interests and practically
limped west in the Mediterranean, away from that front. I always
promised myself if I were to GM one of these variants I would be very
explicit about how it works so no one else suffers from that same
misinterpretation. In the other preparations it slipped my mind and
thus falls into the list of loose ends I am now tying up:
There are two sea spaces south of and with direct canal access into
the Suez Canal (Sue). These are ATL and ARA. ATL completely wraps
around Africa and is directly adjacent to all of the following
territories:
Egy(sc),Gib, Ire, Mor, NWA, Sue, SWA
On the other hand, ARA provides access to the underbelly of the middle
East and is adjacent to the following territories:
ATL, Irn(sc), Irq, Kuw, Pal(sc), SAr, Sue
Charles, as the map maker please correct any errors my eye is making.
The second thing I want to make sure you are all aware of is that
AFTER the game is completely finished I will be making public the DP
expenditures of all players. Each turn I will create a new sheet in an
Excel workbook showing the expenditures of all. In the past Charles
has chosen not to share this in his games, and as a player I've found
this to be terribly disappointing. So now that I am the GM and drunk
with power I will reverse the policy and make the data available to
all once the guns have fallen silent.
If you have any questions about either of these things please let me
know. Have a nice weekend, it is certainly the calm before the storm...
Dirk

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
