[quote:3afa7bc3a1] Gerry,
I saw something today that may be a "feature" of the Youngstown variant. I did not see any note in the wiki to the contrary, so want to bring this to your/Italy's attention for next turn. I presume that if my interpretation is incorrect, you will correct me.
In the Youngstown variant map file (both the one sent out and the one on dipcorp), the Off Board Boxes reference the other OBs that they can go to (in their respective box). In general, we've understood that this means each can touch it's neighbor(s), and some more (e.g. k can touch B, C, J, L). Off Board Box I (eye) and Off Board Box J do not specifically list each other. OBI does list C and H while OBJ does list C and K.
That may make a difference to Italy and my movements. As I do not use Realpolitik, I do not know what the dpy file allows. Just a heads up, thanks!
Scott

This is the portion of the .map file regarding the off-board boxes. The format is:
Space-move type: adjacent space list where mv is land movement and xc is water movement.
obg, for instance is adjacent to eaf obd obe & obf by land, and eaf som & obh by sea.

oba-xc: nat mao obl obb
obb-xc: mao sat obl obk oba obc
obc-mv: mor obd
obc-xc: mor sat obj obh obi obk obb
obd-mv: mor sah obc obg obf obe
obe-mv: sah fez obd obg
obf-mv: sud eaf obd obg
obg-mv: eaf obd obe obf
obg-xc: eaf som obh
obh-xc: som wio obc obg obi
obi-xc: wio eio obc obh
obj-xc: eio tim obc obk
obk-xc: tim spo obb obc obj obl
obl-xc: oba obb npo spo obk

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
