Gentlemen, I unfortunately must resign from the game.  I appear to have contracted the flu.  Apparently flu season really ISN'T over.  And I also guess vaccines either aren't foolproof, or I just got a rarer strain.  In any event, I need to reallocate my diminished energy and, after much thought, have decided that Dip comes after friends, family, job, and sleep.  So sadly I must leave this interesting (if perpetually frustrating) game.  Thank you all for what I must say has been a very unique Dipping experience, and good luck in the rest of the game.

Also, to rest any rumors, that Tactical Predictions press last winter was mine.  And clearly, I was really, really, really wrong.

Take care, and for the love of whatever you deem holy, don't get the flu.  Getting into a boxing match with it in the middle of the night really stinks.  I had a 5 round bout, but got KO'd sometime during the 3rd round.  Too bad viruses don't play by the rules.

Best regards,
-Maslow

Sorry everyone,

I've been slacking lately with adjudicating, but I'll get back on track for this spring. The Italians got their missing order into me on time, so Alex will be without a grace period from here on out along with Kyle and Justin. Make sure you get orders in on time everyone, and I highly recommend preliminary orders. Just a suggestion. Here are the adjustments:

ORDERS:
France:
Build A Paris

Italy:
Build F Naples

Russia:
Remove F St Petersburg(nc)

Turkey:
Build F Smyrna

DEADLINE:
The spring 1903 deadline will be set for ***Friday, March 26th, 9:00pm EST*** This gives you a whole week to negotiate and get orders in, so don't waste any time.

DATELINE SWITZERLAND, Late December, 1902

Players, let's get back to DipJeopardy...

Bobbarkerfan: "We still have 2 categories... "Bodies of Water," and "Liars & Cheats."

Bobbarkerfan: "Maslow, feeling pretty frisky, I see, now that you have that new shiny fleet...you were our last correct questioner, select"

Maslow: "I'll take 'Bodies of Water' for $100,"

Bobbarkerfan: "Shoulda bumped.'"

:::Justin buzzes in:: "What is Black Sea?"

Bobbarkerfan: "Yes!!  Select."

Justin: "I'll take 'Bodies of Water' for $200, bobbarkerfan."

Bobbarkerfan: "And the answer is 'Shouldn'ta bumped.'"

:::Justin buzzes in::: "What is Barents Sea?"

Bobbarkerfan: "You're on a roll...just like Panzer forces through Poland on a sunny day.  Continue."

Justin: "I'll take 'Bodies of Water' for $300."

Bobbarkerfan: "And the answer is...'Head west, young man.'"

:::Kyle buzzes in::: "Ooo, Ooo, I know this one...what is the Northern Atlantic?"

Bobbarkerfan:  "Not what we were looking for..."

:::Maslow buzzes in:::  "Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue?"

Bobbarkerfan:  "Uh, no."

:::Matthew buzzes in:::  "What I want ALL of the people west of me to do?  By the way, let me comment on the army currently inserted sideways in Munich.  I don't know who dreamed up that little maneuver, but but I'll get you sucka, if it's the last thing I ever, ever do.  I'm not ready to make any accusations, but several packages of incriminating strudel were found on the Tyrolian border.  Coincidence?  I think not.  Before retreating, a German bomb squad was called to deal with the packages.  They determined that the best way to diffuse the suspected explosives were to eat them.  Reports are coming in that, 'They were very tasty.'"

Bobbarkerfan: "OK....Matthew...speaking of sniffing glue, select..."

Matthew: "I'll take 'Bodies of Water' for $400."

Bobbarkerfan: "And the answer is, 'Oh what a tangled web we weave.'"

:::Ross buzzes in::: "What recent 'explanations' from the English seem to amount to regarding that pesky fleet of his in the English Channel?"

Bobbarkerfan:  "Very insightful...would you like to finish off the category?"

Ross: "'Bodies of Water' for $500..."

Bobbarkerfan: "And the answer is, 'And for my next trick, let me part the seas."

:::Michael buzzes in::: "What is the first step in the Italian's plans to circumnavigate the globe and take up a position to my east in the Dead Sea?"

Bobbarkerfan: "Let's take a break...and remember players, we are actively soliciting suggestions for categories in the upcoming Double DipJeopardy round where the stakes are even higher.  Unsolicited suggestions so far include, "The Wit and Wisdom of Maslow," "Stuck in Finland," and "If Man were Meant to Fly."

DATELINE: VIENNA, Christmas Eve, 1902

Dear Santa,

I know it is the last minute, but I thought I would write and send you my Christmas list.  Please bring my friend, Ross two armies and put them both in Paris, if you wouldn't mind...and my friend Michael a shiny new army, and my friend Maslow a shiny new fleet, but don't bring anything to Matthew or Kyle...they were both naughty and held me upside down in a toilet and gave me something called a 'swirly.'   And please, Santa, take some toys away from the mean Justin.  He started with more toys than anybody and won't share.  And, Santa, if it's not asking too much...I don't need any new armies or fleets...could you just get Mistress Lash back for a while?  Basically, I need cash.  You can't believe her hourly rates.

Thank you,

Franz

END PRESS
Have a good week everyone, and get those orders in!

Joey

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing. The shadow, even the darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you - That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding onto something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."
