Good Game everyone.

EoG statement Westlands.
***********************

My initial plan was to make an alliance with the sea-folk given that i figured i would need at least a 3 country alliance to really put the seafolk on the ropes.
Alas one of those countries was Felix and since he tends to follow the same "let's be allies in this game and then I shall stab you" plan, I knew i could
not get the allies I need. I made my intial alliances with the Seafolk and Original Midlands and setr about trying to defend from felix's 'surprise' attack that
would come in the first year (for the record it did!, but at least I was ready).

Trout looked strong in the southlands and with the midlands crumbiling and changing ownership they looked even better. I approahced the borderlands and
formalized our alliance - we planned to take the eastlands down and then go through the midlands.

It was around this time the whitecloakcs changed leader. I contacted Jordan about a posisble working together (in my mind, any war between the westlands and the whitecloaks would lead
to someone else winning) but received no answer. No surpirse there, he was replaced a few seasons later with Garry (who was a reasonable and sensible ally).

The new midlands (my close friend Julien) demanded a lot of territories and would compromise on nothing. He also assumed as i had 6 SC, i wa the biggest and
had to be attacked (not neccessary the right thing in diplomacy). Sean (another friend of mine) in the borderlands was also tired of Julien's diploming style
and we worked together. Contrary to populr belief, Sean was calling a lot of the shots when it came to the eastlands and midland attacks.

Working with Garry we wuickly decimated the midlands and was all set to move against Trout in the south. I then lost contact with Jorge.
I send at least 5-6 messages with no reply and I suspect (*from now established contact) that he did the same. But with no messages, i built a fleet in
defence and e moved his fleets in defence. When Trout convoyed his army onto the mainland, I knew the Trout had courted my ally.

If the game had contiued my plan was

1) work with Garry and Sean to eliminate Trout
2) work with Garry to break and eliminate the seafolk whilst holding sean at bay
3) stab sean and go for the solo

Unfortunately, Sean was unable to play on and i just could not face another replacement so i called for a draw. Jorge, Trout and Garry definately should have
been included in any DIAS and Sean was only relgulated to a survivial because he was the one quitting....

good players in the end but too much love lost at the beginnnig.

.ExternalClass DIV {;} So I have 3 votes for a 4-way draw with the Borderlands Surviving, and one vote for a Trolloc Solo.
I will process the game close on DC when I get back on Tuesday.

I just want to thank you all for playtesting this map.
Please send me your thoughts and ideas for improvements, and weather or not you would be interested in playing the next iteration of this variant.
(just so you know, some of the planned changes involve the removal of Dragonmount, the Eastlands as a nation, and adding a path through the Mtns of Mist between Katar and either Baerlon or the two rivers.)

Great game, everyone, Thank you!

Jason

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
